Not much you can do. Lame the person didn't offer to pay the doctor visit though. Own up for your responsibilities.... If that person had a child, who struck yours causing injury, you'd be damned if you didn't demand they pay the resulting Dr. bill.

Haha. That's so typical.

I'm not laughing at your wife, just how reliably clueless so many dog owners are. I can't count the number of times that someone has said "Aww he doesn't bite. He's just a big ol' baby." All the while their dog is squared off looking at me with no small amount of hostility. No thanks, pal. I should be able to take your word for it, but experience has taught me that you really have no clue what your dog will do if I try to pet it.

Your wife offered herself as food for the poor little thing, what was it supposed to do? refuse food?

Hope the dog didn't catch anything from your wife.

LOL.

On a serious note, any dogs will bite, when intending to pet the thing be very careful, especially if it's barking at you.

But really, the owner should have put the thing away.

Anyway, hope your wife is OK.

I didn't ask and I doubt that she looked at the under carriage to see.

I've never met these people so I have no idea.

Hopefully next time that person will take the dog out of the room when it acts like that. Also you wife knows better than to stay near an aggressive dog.

Haha I got bit by my neighbour's dog years back. "Ah don't worry she just likes to bark a lot she wont bite. " I reach out my hand to let the dog smell me. *CHOMP*

Left a mark for a while. Whole hand went in the mouth but only one tooth actually broke skin.

OP, I hope your wife does not need the shots; generally if the dog has had its shots, you don't need any. But then, with those owners, who knows ?!

May not be related (as in, the anchor actually acted stupidly), but I was reminded of:

LOL this happened to me. At friend's house with their pretty german shepherd and he was trotting around happily. I reach my hand out, he trots on up and CLOMPS down right on my effing FAP PADDLE.

If anybody asks me if my dog(s) bites I always say 'yes'.

PSA: Dog owners, get your fucking dog out of people's face. Nobody finds its barking endearing. Dog owners are often such pricks with their dogs, even when the dog isn't violent. Just keep it out of people's space, it's rude as hell. Hopefully this woman's dog gets run over

Its always the little dogs, I got bit last year by someone taking their dog for a walk. It was on the leash, barking at me like it was ready to kill. I tried to be nice, just stuck my hand out, the little fucker jumped forward and bit me. Broke the skin also, tiny bit of blood, I didn't do anything about it, but the lady did mention something like I hope you wont sue.

Little dogs are the worst. They have a Napoleon complex and are very territorial.

Owners of such dogs don't know how to train/socialize the dog to be the Omega instead of the Alpha.

This. Unfortunately that's why so many end up in shelters. People get them but don't want to put in the effort to train them. Then they're surprised when the animal acts out. The dog thinks its the pack alpha unless you show them otherwise.

Another thing people don't understand about little dogs is they're balls of nervous energy. I think people get them thinking they're low maintenance. Quite the opposite is true. Even compared to larger breeds. You want a small pet that's low energy, get a cat.

Also lesson learned for the OP's, don't go near an angry dog regardless of what their dippy owner says.

Of course OP's wife heard the standard "OMG!, he's never done that before" line of bullshit.

lol when we were out at one of my uncle's cottage for a family reunion there were lot of big dogs running around, mostly labs.

One of my other aunts shows up with a little taco bell dog, with legs the size of a pencil. We were actually scared it's legs would get caught between the planks of the deck. That dog was bossing around the labs and chasing them away, it was hilarious.
