dog bones. Is there a way to make them seem new?

My spoiled dogs think they have to have new bones constantly. There's plenty left of the old ones and some of those things aren't that cheap considering how long they last them.

Is there any way to make them seem new to them, like boil them in chicken broth or something?

i put peanut butter in the bone, sometimes just smear it on the inside, sometimes i put alot inside and then freeze it.

I do peanut butter or peanut butter mixed with dry dog food and then freeze them overnight. I've also used mashed banana when I've been out of pb. My dogs are on a diet so I either cut down on their breakfast or cut out the breakfast altogether if the bone has a large hollow that fits more peanut butter. But the marrow bones always vary in size so I just use the ones with the smallest hole, so I can fill it up with only about two tablespoons of pb (sometimes less).

My last family dog was a fiend for PB, so I bet that'd work awesome!

What kind of bones? Like nylabones, the big meaty femurs, antlers? The problem with boiling real bones is that it can make them brittle and prone to splintering. Potentially bad news if/when those splinters are ingested.

Good idea, thanks. I wonder if there is a flavoring I could coat them with that would dry on it? I wonder what they put on Nylabones for flavoring?

We get whole antlers on ebay cheap. Cut them up with the miter saw and they go nuts for them. Takes a month or 2 for them to get it small and we pitch them when they can choke on them.

Our dog just drags her old bones out of the toy crates (she will literally dig through two crates of toys to find just the thing she wants) - has different kinds of bones and antlers...and she seems to get a bit of use out of them.

That said, I know our dog would go for PB, cheese or even whipped cream.
