An unforturnate series of events has just impacted my life. About a week ago a stray dog came to my house. It was cold and raining outside so I gave the dog some food. It decided to stay a couple of days. Last Wednesday I came home and discovered that the dog was gone. My neighbor called and informed me that she took it to the animal shelter. I didn't realize that I had fallen in love with the dog until it left. We decided to go down to animal shelter to adopt the dog, but to my dismay, we found out that it has heartworms. I called the local vet and he told me that it would cost more that $800 to treat the dog. My family has two kids in college and we just can't afford to spend that much money. I am posting this message in hope that someone out there has a big enough heart to adopt this sweet dog. It is a Springer Spaniel, very smart and affectionate, and about 4 years old. It is black with a white nose and chest. The dog is completely house broken and knows how to sit. I'm sure if anyone were to meet this dog they would fall in love with it too. The dog is at the Cobb County animal control center in Georgia, cage 873, tag #1105. Just ask anyone there about the black Springer Spaniel and they will know which dog you are talking about. If you are someone with big heart who wants to save a life, please consider adopting this dog. If you know anyone who may be interested, please tell them of this dog. I know that this is very off-topic but please have the kindness not to lock this.
[edit]First of all I would like to say to those of you that showed some compassion, you have truly warmed my heart. The people who feel that this was not a worthy cause, you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, and that should be respected. I would like to apologise for angering some people by posting this off-topic thread. Well, we decided to do go and adopt the dog today. When we arrived, we found out that we were too late. The dog was put to sleep this morning, one day after it was eligible for adoption. Of course I am sad, but I am forced to realize that these things will happen. It is possible that the dog would have never recovered from the heartworms, but I only wish that its last days on this earth would have been of more pleasure, instead of being confined to a cage. I am happy that the dog is free from the pain of its sickness, and I am sure that it is in a better place.[/edit]
