Yeah there definitely will be some of that. Every administration funnels money towards pet projects and away from things they don't like. But we'll finally pull the curtains back on this government apparatus and see the real price tags.

Some?

The only places in the budget where $1T exists is in "entitlements" and combined defense (on the record DoD + specials). Now, which one of those do you think they're going to slash????

He does go on to say they can try to aim for half of that, which is still a substantial figure.

I'm not expecting them to deliver on their promises, but it will be fun exposing all of the government waste. Sometimes an endeavor like this isn't designed necessarily to deliver results, but to generate enough public outcry and political capital for change down the line. We'll see.
At most he will find maybe $100 billion, if that.

The evidence mounts that you are really a false-flagger Trump-supporter all along. (Have been genuinely unsure about that for some time).

Nah. But I have been pretty clear that the only two things I'm "looking forward to" the next several years is DOGE and RFK trying to at least attempt to remove all the shit out of our food.

Horseshoe theory of politics probably explains him better.

Exercises like this never do shit. The government waste is death by a billion cuts, but fixing that is hard work. So they are going to find things with titles that make people say "why are we spending time on that?" Usually actually being important things that have completely negligible costs. They will also bitch about expensive aircraft parts. Instead of figuring out real ways of reducing military costs, they add more layers of red tape that will make parts even more expensive.

DOGE won't save anything.

This has been done many times. Also the budget is public, go look it up if you're actually curious. DOGE is just going to try to demonize things they don't like.

Or things they simply do not understand. I liked the suggestion they made that the US could simply save money by not paying interest on its debt lmao.

"Guys, did you know if we set off deflation, inflation would go away?"

I mean, deficit spending is inflationary so decreasing the deficit should help inflation. And increasing supply is deflationary. So he has concepts of a thought in there, just no actual plan to implement massive deficit cuts or massive supply increases.

Except DOGE isn't going to try and find corruption and wasteful spending. All they're really going to do is recommend that a bunch of programs the conservatives don't like to be killed, irrespective of how efficient or worthy those programs are. That and alter government spending so as much as possible flows into the pockets of Musk, Vivek, and other Trump crony billionaires.

His behaviour with Twitter is surely a clue? Cut things randomly and wildly, then backtrack when it turns out those things were rather important after all.
Every government (even of every political persuasion) insists they are going to make massive 'efficiency savings', then finds out just how hard it is to do that (if it were simple it would have been done long ago).

Also the 'slashing the deficit' idea is exactly what Cameron and Osborne promised, and it didn't go according to plan _at all_.

Horseshoe theory of politics probably explains him better.

Never really bought into that concept. More inclined towards "fish-hook theory", myself (in general, though not necessarily in that poster's case).

Hmm...
I agree with Elon. The government is wasteful and is known to purchase items far exceeding actual need most of which gets gotten rid of in a government auction or donated.

Blame Congress. They don't need to pay for more than 10 golf visits a year for Dumbass Turd but they insist on it.

Fuckin' half-wit clown.

Liz Lezius, a spokesperson for the Canadian tech company Alludo, which develops WinZip and was once known as Corel, says licensing for the program is based on the number of devices on which it is installed, not the number of employees with access to the software, though she declined to comment on specific customers. “It is typical that there are more devices than employees in an organization,” Lezius tells WIRED.
Meanwhile, how much has Herr Trump spent on his golf vacations this year?
Truly, I hope this administration fucks you raw with no lube, in the most painful of ways.

Don't forget government having to rent Trump hotels at overpriced rates for security and having to pay overpriced rent at MaraLago/ Bedminster etc..

Certainly a lot more than winzip key money.

It's funny how MAGA always forgets this.. almost like they get to town and head straight for the Blue Oyster Bar!

Sounds just like my COO wasting money here and there on company events while he tries his best to shave pennies off of IT related stuff. You know, the actual stuff that our company business DEPENDS on.

My article for the day!
People are finally getting around to what I’ve been saying for weeks—DOGE is the American Gestapo and should be viewed as such, as far as anyone working in/for the Federal Government is concerned.

I disagree. They are trimming the fat. Only government fat cats need to worry. But he may be trimming too much so even Don is reigning him in.

Nah. They're doing illegal things. If you want to cut spending, Congress has to pass a new appropriations bill. Republicans have both chambers: if their agenda is so important and popular, they should just pass a bill instead of cowering while Trump does illegal things
