It happened in the case of Huffman's kid and several of the others. I added this comment to my prior post:

These parents will do jail time measured in months. A far better punishment is to deprive them of the benefit of their fraud.

I agree with this, although again I would say only in the cases were we have decent evidence that the kids were in on it or at least knew what was going on. It would seem wrong to me to expel the kid based on actions they had no part of, even though they benefited.

Dummies. Don’t they know the right way to bribe college officials is to just make large donations shortly before your kid applies? Colleges know what’s up and they look for that shit.
How's being an alumni "In good standing" much different. System's been rigged for the connected since the beginning of time. Then you network.

Call me a noob, is it against the law for a private school to make it easier for an athlete to enroll and is it against the law to admit someone because their family made a huge donation?
I’m not talking ethics, I’m talking law. I only briefly skimmed the article.

So, Republicans? 'Cause if you think a party that cuts taxes for the rich and takes industry bribes is the party of the people, you have another thing coming...

I'm pretty sure he's tucked tail and ran once I pointed out that his messiah is a billionaire who appointed the richest cabinet members in history.

No on your first question. But these were not real athletes.

It's fraud. You can read the indictment here.

I wonder if the judge will...have mercy...on Aunt Becky?

Just read a column quoting an expert saying he didn't think they'd get any jail time.

These are rich people who committed white collar crimes, after all. It's unseemly to see them go to prison.

Why do this, the ROI I doubt is 6 million. Just go to a different college if you don’t get in. People put way to much stock into "I must go to his school". We have a fantastic university around here where anyone can basically get in but the education it delivers is top notch.

These are people who are already rich. Their ROI is not measured in dollars. They are not going there for the quality of education, and they're not using what they learn there as the basis of a career.

That just means they've got the best brains and smartiest tax lawyers....exactly what America needs.

The colleges were paying their employees to do their jobs honestly. If they lied about students qualifications they could be charged with honest services fraud because of it.
If you are getting paid to do a particular job but you sneak out the back door and go to a bar while on the clock this is what you may get charged with.

If they need help getting Laurie Loughlin into restraints. I volunteer.

She has committed a felony. I bet she does little or no jail time.

Paul Manafort gets practical slap on the wrist for massive crimes

Meanwhile...

Look at the woman who got 5 years for just voting when she thought it was ok because she served her time.

Let's see how many of you people calling for the head of Jussie Smollet (he deserves it) call for her head.

Equal justice under the law my ass. Rich , white and hot will be a get out of jail free card.

This kind of college affirmative action for rich white people has been going on for years yet god forbid a person of color get a little extra help and conservatives want to get out the pitchforks

I need to see what's going on with the affluenza kid?

Haha appears 50 cent was right again. Never trust anyone outside the hood, they have too much money & comfort to lose in jail.

Heard on the radio the dude running the scam to cheat on SATs and sports admissions got pressure from the FBI and agreed to wear a wire to help the FBI catch others...
