you get what you pay for. I use a dolby digital receiver, and I absolutely love it. Denon makes great products. I picked up last year's model of their $499 receiver for $350 last December. It's awesome!

Dead deal...

I just phoned PC Liquidators, and they told me they are canceling about half the orders because they only had 100 of these, and suddenly got about 200 orders for them yesterday afternoon.

Dammit, I put my order in about 90 minutes after this was first posted on Anandtech, and I was told I didn't make the cut.

If anyone ordered one of these, mistakenly thinking it was a receiver instead of an add-on adapter for your existing Prologic receiver, please E-mail me!

I would like to try to get the company to redirect it to me if you cancel. I have an old high-end Yamaha Prologic receiver and this would have been perfect for me. :|

I was told by one of their CSR's that if you haven't received a cancellation email then you should be ok.
I got on the deal within 30 minutes after it was posted. My credit card company says the charge was authorized (but not posted yet)so hopefully I might get one.
Now to find an older model, high end unit that would work with the Vanta!

I consider this a cold deal after some research. I have a technics receiver with dolby digital ready. I just bought about the same one again but with digital dolby and dts for 200 shipped. This is one hell of a receiver. I love it and I am going to love this one even more.

Acedaddy, I agree that this may not be an ideal option to upgrade a $200 receiver. For those of us, however, who have obsolete high end HT equipment (I payed $2k for an upper end Yamaha Pro-Logic integrated amp in 1995) there is really no other way to upgrade. $79 is a very hot deal. The amps on this unit were underpriced even at list. Too bad they're gone.

The only reason this deal is cold is because they are out of stock.
Definitely a high quality niche market item.

I bought the unit thinking I would buy an older model high end Pro Logic then use this to upgrade but I realized I already had one so it fit me fine.

The Vantas electronics are top notch!
