I don't think their burgers are worth more than a buck if you ask me. Give me a couple Mcdoubles and I'm good to go.

Wrong. I'm not saying In n Out isn't a little better than the $1 McDonald's burger.

For a good fast food burger, my recollection is go to Backyard Burgers.

I have one of the best burger places in the country near me, so that's useful.

Far better than In n Out are Carl's Jr., if you need fast food; even Wendy's is better.

The worst major chain burger though is Sonic's.

Im my area, they took the chicken nuggets and apple pies(2 or $1) off the dollar menu. Since those were two of the main items bringing us there (for the kiddos), we rarely visit anymore. So yea, when you stop offering what people are buying...you generally make less money.

Yay - more horrible reporting! What a shitty title for an article. We can't possabily know if it failed (overall) yet. It's only known if it failed overall if profit\sales was down more than competitors. It's entirely possible it helped McDonalds to retain more profit\sales than if it were not offered. Another - better - article had this to say:

Although profit margins declined during the first quarter, McDonald's noted that it picked off market share in many parts of the world, including the U.S.

Picking up market share means that you stole people away from your competitors - which is a possible win for the dollar menu. Given that the market for Fast food isn't really growing market share is often viewed as a very important health indicator so a gain there is a definite plus. That said profits being down could be due to decreased fast food spending by the public or the dollar menu pulling customers away from higher margin products.

April 26th will shed more light on this when Burger King releases their financials.

Guaranteed the In-N-Out photo is just of a burger that somebody actually received taken by a good camera. They look just like that. The McDonald's burger also looks accurate. I think In-N-Out is top tier, but, strangely, I DO understand the appeal of that shit-looking McDonald's burger. McDonald's are masters of making cheap processed food very appealing through food science... I will admit there is something to the burger like in the picture that is much nicer than the sum of the parts.
