Problem:
My friend's laptop was hooked up into a DOMAIN. While at my house, I wanted to hook her laptop into my workgroup. So I changed from domain into workgroup, it then prompt me to restart.
(rightclick mycomputer/properties/computername tab/change/ Member of "") After restart I can not log back into laptop with username and password . . .

Is it because I switched to workgroup? If so, how to I change back to domain when i can't log back in

Is there like an ATL-D for domain changing thru login menu? haha

I wish! haha

It just has Username
and password.

My other friend says I just have to be at the orginal domain network, plug in the rj45 and that should be it, seems like my only real option . ..

Use the local user account instead of the domain account (the username/password your friend was using for the domain may not be the same as the local user account).

N0cmonkey is right, you have to use a local account. Your friend won't be able to log on to the machine with the domain account until they rejoin the machine to the domain.

yeah, now i wished i never touched it

So will her IT department.

Without knowing a local account and password, you won't be able to log on. She'll have to take it back to work and have it rejoined to the domain.

For future reference, there is no need to disjoin her machine from the domain. She will be able to log on with cached credentials when she is away from work, and she will still be able to access resources on your network. She'll have to authenticate with a account on your machine, but you can use a persistant drive mapping that specifies the alternate credentials.
