I've seen people claim that being a stay-at-home parent is the same as managerial experience, and I suppose I can see how they think that, but to me a manager is supposed to enable his/her employees to do their jobs correctly and under-budget. I don't really get how being a parent is similar.

Maybe it's just because I don't have kids.

Welcome to the 70's folks. This term has been in use for at least that long...maybe longer...and it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I'm sure that stationary engineer, the term used for people who (among other things) operate and maintain the hvac and other systems in large buildings bothers youse...and I can't imagine your ire over the term "operating engineer," for people like me...who operate and maintain heavy equipment, yet I have indeed been an operating engineer for over 30 years, and no matter how pissed off you "real" engineers get, you can't take that away from me. "P

By single guy, do you mean a guy who is not in a relationship? Because that's not what we're talking about here. This is a married woman who is a stay at home mom. That's a lot easier than being a single parent.

Yep, my wife is "retiring" on Friday at the ripe old age of 32. Been at the same company 8+ years and was in no danger of losing her job but she decided she wants to stay home with the kids now and I fully support it.

BTW, "domestic engineer" is stupid.
