The smartmatic lawsuit is ongoing. This is only the first judgment against Fox.Like I said, for the company that bought them 2 years before the election, this is a huge windfall for all the equity partners.
Now, just for shits and giggles, what if Dominion used this money to buy SmartMatic—could they keep the SM lawsuit going as an unresolved matter outside of this settlement??

While going to trial might provide more juicy tidbits we (the public) enjoy seeing; at the end of the day settling for this massive amount is a guarantee slap against fox. It is not clear how much dominion will actually receive (after lawyer fee) or if the judge will rebuke fox further for lying (I suspect since this is a civil case the settlement ends all aspect of the case; though I would like to see more). Also it really is unusual for a settlement of this sort to be public which in itself is a huge win for dominion and a demonstration of just how strong their case was against fox.Greed won again and again democracy will suffer. I wonder the same things myself and would dearly love to see this principle applied to people like MTG.Of which makes me wonder how this settlement will affect FOX's ability to lie as freely as they have been. I guess it all depends on just how much they're willing to pay to keep doing what they do, seeing as if FOX's viewers are addicted to the constant stream of lies that they've been exposed to for all these years. Should be interesting to see how FOX manages this newly acquired conundrum of being somewhat restrained from broadcasting those Maggat pleasing lies they pump out on a regular basis.
They should just jail whoever was in charge of the decision for the expected remaining lifetime of whoever died. Fuck fines, that's only punishment for the poor.the point is that lawsuits like this work towards future value.
Some company poisons the water and kills a young mother or father, just starting their career, and lawsuits against the defendant don't start at "what that person earned that year that they died."
They are aimed at the lifetime of wealth and support that you expect that person to have provided for their family, and that's generally what the family is going to get.
Sadly, in return for giving Dominion a vast sum of money, Fox anchors will not be required to acknowledge any of this on the air.
