Surely there are some jobs where people are suspended and not able to work if they are facing charges? I thought it was the case for teachers and social workers, for example. Cops too?
Don't know if they still get paid or not, though.
But that is the employer making a decision to suspend them. Private practice lawyers are typically self employed or partnerships.

Seems a fuzzy distinction. If they require regulation and licensing by the state, then are they purely part of the 'private' domain?

I mean, I don't know about the US, but here, many jobs, whether private or government, that involve dealing with 'vunlerable' groups, require an 'enhanced criminal records check', that would include cautions and very old convictions and, maybe (not sure), even allegations that didn't lead to convictions. Pretty sure that would include things you'd been charged for but not yet faced trial over, and that would affect private employers also.

Nothing fuzzy about it. Anyway in America we have a presumption of innocence unless found guilty no matter how likely you are guilty. Anyway in this specific case she was suspended; the judge removed her from the case. If that isn't a suspension i don't know what is...

Now (at least for Lawyers) you can be suspended while an appeal is being processed after you have been found guilty as is the case for John Eastman in California - but like the others it took nearly 4 years from the (major) breach of lawyering ethics till he was removed. He still has not been formally disbarred though it has been recommended by the process.

I can’t speak for everything but in my line of work when teachers are accused of misconduct they are suspended and removed from the school but still paid until their case is adjudicated.

I wouldn’t agree with that. You don’t automatically take away someone’s livelihood because charges are filed against them.
I disagree with that. In some circumstances, licenses are restricted/restrained upon having charges brought against the individual. MD’s frequently cannot practice when charged, nurses, some persons within intelligence agencies, etc. It can and does happen.

I'm not sure that's true. I don't think MDs have their license revoked upon charges - I think the board needs to make a decision to suspend/revoke it. Do you have a link that says otherwise?

As far as people within intelligence agencies and such, that's an employer-employee relationship. If they want to fire someone they can. This is a question of licensing.

Update on Smartmatic / Newsmax - going to trial end of September, last appeal to get it thrown out pre-trial failed
- Judge has specifically ruled that the election claims made by Newsmax were factually false
- But decided a jury should determine whether Newsmax actions recklessly disregarded the truth, resulting in legal defamation

Perfect timing for publicity on this. Hope it gets some coverage.
