I don't know if it's funny or sad that to issue an apology, one must go to the "all powerful" spokesman for ALL black people in America
The Rutgers team, which includes eight black women, had lost the day before in the NCAA women's championship game. Imus was speaking with producer Bernard McGuirk about the game when the exchange began on "Imus in the Morning," which is broadcast to millions of people on more than 70 stations and MSNBC.

"That's some rough girls from Rutgers," Imus said. "Man, they got tattoos..."

"Some hardcore hos," McGuirk said.

"That's some nappy-headed hos there, I'm going to tell you that," Imus said.

Do black people like Al Sharpton? I as a white guy doesnt. I think he give blacks a bad name, but thats just me.

The guy is more or less famous because he piggy backs off of inappropriate comments made by anyone about the African-American community.

Nice contribution to the thread.

My beef is that if he thinks that he said something that offended someone and he wants to apologize, he should do it on his show. Issue a press release or whatever.

But to have to pander to Sharpton?

slsmnaz was making a reference to a South Park episode where Stan's dad dropped the n-bomb and apologized to Jesse Jackson. In order to accept the apology, JJ turned around and dropped his pants and told Stan's dad to "Kiss it".

It was a joke from the South Park that basically showed this exact scenario except with Jesse Jackson.

Al Sharpton is as racist as Imus. How's that for a contribution?

I wonder when we'll find Don Imus laying on the street in a garbage bag, smeared with feces and blaming Howard Stern for the attack....

I can't stand Imus, but it seems ridiculous to me that he is apologizing to Al Sharpton. I don't think he said anything racist, and Al Sharpton simply has no credibility to hold anyone accountable, for anything. Imus should just retire and be done with it.

Is it ok to make fun of anyone?
Is it ok to make fun of everyone, exept black people?
Imus does make racist comemnts, but I guess it is ok, because he makes fun of everyone.

Speaking of the Tawana Brawley incident, that was the point where anyone with even a shred of intelligence should've realized what Sharpton and Jackson really are all about.

The irony is that I actually DO think Imus is a racist - he has admitted using the N word extensively - but in this case he didn't say anything racist, whereas I am not convinced Michael Richards is a racist, and he blatantly DID say something racist that warrants an apology.

I'm not normally one to advocate political assassinations but race relations in the US would probably be a lot better without those two idiots mucking things up.

Sad to say, you're probably not wrong. I think these two, more than any other current African-American leaders, have really perpetuated the victim mentality that has hobbled black people since Dr. King died. It's a real shame. In many respects things have gotten worse, not better, for black people since the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and I think that mindset is an important part of the problem.

Nappy-headed? I don't get it.

Are all "ho's" black? Sounds to me that if you think that then you have issues yourself...

I can't urbandictionary nappy headed right now, but doesn't it just mean your hair is all messed up? Is that really that racist? Was he specifically referring to the 8 black women as opposed to the rest of the team?
