I listend to Bob Grant's show for a long time, and I wondered that just about every day.

I thought Howard Stern's reaction is what the Rutgers basketball team should have said in their press conference yesterday. They missed a great opportunity. They could have ended this whole situation, made Imus look like a fool, and brought the focus back to their accomplishment. Instead they prolonged the story.

This is, once again, a blown out of proportion media event that shouldn't even have made the news. He said something stupid and now the racism police (Sharpton and Jackson) have stepped in. Big deal. Waste of time. The Rutgers team holds a press conference? Whatever. He said something he shouldn't have said, but get over it. You don't like what he has to say, don't listen to his show. Get over it already and move on. There are bigger things in life to worry about.

MSNBC is dropping the show. That just shows that corporations don't have a spine nowadays. Stand up for what you believe in, instead of catering to opportunistic clowns like Sharpton and Jackson and their flock of sheep.

Snoop Dog has his say:
It's a completely different scenario," said Snoop, barking over the phone from a hotel room in L.A. "[Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We're talking about ho's that's in the 'hood that ain't doing sh--, that's trying to get a n---a for his money. These are two separate things. First of all, we ain't no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC [the cable network home to Imus] going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them mutha-----as say we in the same league as him.

So, now Imus was in the booth at the championship basketball game?

Did I say that he was?

No, I didn't, so STFU.

How does that make it any more acceptable? You are so ridiculous it hurts.

When you run a word like that to the ground, especially in the context of comedy, you desensitize it to the point that it's lost all meaning. The word ho has not bite left in it, no matter how hard you

*SNIP*

becomes comedic and stripped of its barbs. Call my wife a ho and she'll laugh at you. Call her a c*nt and she'll probably knock your teeth out.

I'm not even going to justify this with a real response.

You're obviously to dense to realize that whether you want to allow this thought in to your world or not, people were offended.

ho = whore, skank, slut, et al.

You obviously have no sense of decency and much less respect for women than I do. Sorry that your neanderthal mind can't handle that.

Poor Imus.

I would like Sharpton to stand by those white Duke lacrosse players. You know if those players were black and the stripper was white, he would be there in a heartbeat.

Bye racist LOL.

Good, now IMUS can retire and enjoy his life. I hope Sharpton suffers a slow death.

The double standard here is ludicrous.

What a bunch of spineless asses.

This country is in sad shape when morons like Al Sharpton can bring things like this upon people - and MSNBC (and CBS, if they do the same - given their history I would not be surprised) is no better. God forbid somebody should stand by their employee at the risk of *gasp* offending a few paper-thin-skinned attention whores. YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO NOT BE OFFENDED. Deal with it.

Imus is a good person being dragged through the mud for a simple mistake and resulting overreaction.

Sharpton has messed up. He's made numerous comments about Jews in the past that would have gotten anyone else canned...

I've never liked Imus (I'm strongly anti-talk radio, especially the "shock jock" variety), but I really can't figure the much ado about nothing here. At first glance, I'd say the media has gone into yet another typical cannabilistic frenzy.

Yeah, and I wonder what Al Sharpton's reaction is to the Duke Rape case now that the three men have been fully exonerated. He was calling for their nutz in a sling when the news first broke...

And I think that Jessie Jackson even set up a scholarship for that lying nappy-headed ho

i can see sharpton now in his office leaning back in his big leather chair, hands behind his head with his fingers interlocked, staring up at the ceiling, the air is thick with the smell of smugness and he has a big ass grin on his face as he thinks of all the power he has. he is the god and champion of all black people and all the white people need to grovel in fear when he makes his potent appearence.

I hope MSNBC goes belly up, what do they have now, Kramer, donny. Not that I've ever watched Imus, but when I see a company bend over and take it up the ass, from sharpton none the less, they deserve it.

The problem is that there's nobody to can him. There's no corporation worried about their public image, just a bunch of idiots whose buttons he knows how to push.

I think he has a free pass for life.

Imus played this totally wrong, the groveling tour with stops at Al Sharpton's radio show and Jesse Jackson's left ass cheek does nothing but prolong your misery and raise the story to new heights in the media. Those guys are politicians, manipulators, they play the public image/perception game and spin all situations into their favor -- why would you go throw yourself at their mercy, assign them some moral superiority over you, and let them play you for a fool.

Go directly to the people you "offended," the Rutgers team, and make your apology there. Donate some money to the school, like in the old days when major corporations would pay Jesse Jackson's extortion fee to shut him up. Fire one of your moron white male sidekicks and hire a black woman to replace him.

Stern is pretty smart for keeping Robin Quivers around all these years. Her presence legitimizes and/or diffuses some of the things he says on air, and has kept a lot of people from being able to go after him on race issues. That and the fact that he uses "anonymous" callers and regular guests to deliver a lot of the punchlines to his racial jokes.
