That myth was
totally busted when the last summer Olympic team was completely owned by a group of European players that played 70-80's style basketball. I would surmise that there are many teams in Europe that would completely dominate over any long series of games against todays USA born NBA players -- mostly because of the selfless style of play and team oriented attitude. Might not be as
pretty to watch but it has proven to work.
uh. yeah they got owned. but what does that have to do with what Jlbenedict said? they still are overtaking many "white" dominated sports. most of the top NBA players are black, same with the NFL. the top golfer is black.
Yeah, the very top players are, but Tigers
complete domination is for the most part over. Still a
fantastic player, and I would bet he will eventually dominate like he did at times but it's not about him
being black -- it's about his total dedication to the sport.
NBA: Well, that's changing rapidly now as UK-European players are catching up -- the reason again IMO has nothing to do with race but has to do with basic practiced fundamentals and dedication and team play over selfish individual play instead of grandstand dunking and chest-pounding.
I'll take the 80's Celts and the 80's Lakers against todays rap-culture oriented teams anyday. Much better team basketball.
NFL: Starting to change IMO. Notice recent suspensions over the asinine behavior of certain players and notice that Mike Vick (that was super-hyped beyond belief) never has and probably never will win any NFL championship. Not because he's not a fantastic athlete (he is) and pretty good quarterback (he is) but because IMO he has been placed in an untenable position of being the all-star quarterback that needs to represent the semi-rap culture of sorts. He'll never lose his job as a starter, and no decent quarterback will ever want to go to Atlanta either while he's there because he's always going to be named the starter regardless of his overall effectiveness.
NHL: ? Easy - but ... I would like to see more black players get into hockey -- might be more interesting to watch.
MLB:Actually more dominated by poor latino Countries now that raise them up young playing baseball with better players by the time they're in middle school in Cuba they're better than 95% of all US high-schoolers and most US college players. Again, it's about dedication and repetition with practice. Not race IMO.
