Some may not be aware that in Washington DC, there is a moratorium on evictions until the end of February. This is a critical policy passed by the
DC City Council to protect those who’ve been hit hard by the horrendous economy under Republican rule. There are many similar policies all over our country to help those who are nearing bankruptcy or who otherwise can’t afford the cost of moving. As we all know, after decades of mismanagement and inept, corrupt business deals, Donald Trump is almost certainly bankrupt. Sure, at one point he had access to “all the funding he needs out of Russia,” but that’s already been spent and for all we know that well may have dried up permanently once the Russian government had secured the blackmail they needed.
Donald Trump is dead broke. As such, it would be deeply unfair to force him to move in mid-January while he still has the legal protections guaranteed to the most destitute among us. These protections are for everyone: drug dealers, accused child molesters, those out on bail for manslaughter, and also those who may be facing criminal tax fraud and human rights abuse charges. Until housing can be secured at one our nation’s fine prison facilities, Donald Trump has every right to remain in his current home.
