I think that there should be an automatic filter for anybody who actually even gives 1 second of thought to this guy running for president. That filter would permanently disqualify the person from voting, forever.

There should be a filter for the media too - anyone that thinks about reporting on Trump's "presidential ambitions" or giving more than a small blurb about it on page 40 of a newspaper or a sentence on the bottom line should be fired. I'm tired of seeing this assclown come up time and time again in the news.

A lot of those Trillions are NOT on Bush's head. Sorry. The current administration owns as much of that as Bush and probably more.

If you believe that, I have some beach front property in Kansas I'd like to sell you!

Republicans long ago hitched their wagon to the racist and xenophobic stars. It began in 1964 with Goldwater and it was Nixon who deliberately set out to capture the Wallace voters. Lee Atwater refined and perfected the strategy. And, for a while, it succeeded brilliantly. Reagan and both Bushes profited handsomely from their manipulation.

But, something happened along the way. The people whom the Republicans exploited for support actually became the base of the Republican Party. Republicans no longer manipulated the racists and xenophobes; they were owned by them. That is the state of today's Republican Party. It isn't just a party that caters to racists and haters, it is a party composed essentially of them.

What has their answer been the last 7 years? Just say no to anything Obama and blame Obama. We need solutions for the 21st century, not blind hate and obstruction. Establishment types like Bush, Rubio and Walker are all competing for the same voters -- voters who are actively looking for candidates who mirror their racism and nostalgia.

Well said and so true.

Rachel Maddow reported last night on a poll the Iowa GOP took which asked the question which of these candidates would you never support if they got the party nomination? Trump "won" in a landslide, 58%. Chris Christie came in second, with 3x% (35% if I remember correctly).

Trump will run only to stroke the Trump ego machine and because publicity is to him like oxygen is to a normal mammal.

No one, of either party, will pay him any serious attention.

It is a basic lack of intelligence that makes him anything but a joke.

Get this through your fucking heads, now, HE WILL NEVER RUN FOR PRESIDENT. All he is doing is using this as a promotional tool, and what better promotion is there than having a national audience of salivating morons.
To be fair, I only came into the thread to see who necroed this thread from 4 years ago, or 8 years ago, or 12 years ago.

This is great news! With Kerry rendered hors de combat, poofy haired people had nowhere to turn. Now they can turn to Trump. Their hair however will continue to point in the original direction . . .

One correction - Trump has never filed bankruptcy. Trump's businesses have declared bankruptcy. I believe most people would agree that "my profit, your risk" is not a quality we wish to see more often in D.C. but there's little risk of that. Everyone knows that Trump will never run, he only likes the attention, people telling him that he should run and what a great President he'd make. (Personally I'd say the adoration of fools is another thing best avoided, but YMMV.)

Yeah, but if he's running rolleyes on his record as a successful businessman, having multiple businesses go into bankruptcy is a pretty relevant point. He might have a greater net worth than Ross Perot, but Perot didn't bankrupt multiple businesses to get there. How the fuck do you bankrupt a casino, let alone multiple casinos, multiple times?

Bankruptcy laws need to be seriously overhauled, that's how.

Lol! Yeah, the guy who had to clean up after the president who presided over one of the worst economic disasters in our history as well as one of the worst foreign policy disasters in decades bares some responsibility as well. Let's not also recognize that the current president has been hampered by an obstructionist congress for most of his term.

So yeah, I guess obama can take some of the blame. How much would you like to credit him with?

Dribble...

He brags about how rich he is then proceeds to dodge all other political questions. Shoe-in.

Sort of like Hillary. Brags about how poor she and Bill are ( while racking in millions behind the curtain of lies ) and then dodges all questions about pretty much anything.

His announcement speech was one of the most weird and disjointed talks I have ever seen. He was actually foaming at the mouth. But it should make things interesting for the next year in politics.

It's funny how in the past he's said if he had run for president that he would have won. I wonder what his excuse will be this time when he completely fails? My guess is that he will just declare he didn't really want to be president anyway and that his campaign succeeded at doing exactly what he wanted it to. (whatever the hell that would be)

How to become a billionaire. Start out with Daddy's 2 billion and screw half of it away with poor business acumen.

“Today, Donald Trump became the second major Republican candidate to announce for president in two days. He adds some much-needed seriousness that has previously been lacking from the GOP field, and we look forward to hearing more about his ideas for the nation,” DNC Press Secretary Holly Shulman said in a statement.

'nuff said.

When you have one party of anti-American, Marxist, racist, pervy psychos - and another party of timid, squeaky little political cuckholds who will sell out their base for donors you get curves balls like Trump (who could still do better much better as President than the shady creature the US has now )
