" Donald Trump will quickly demand peace talks between Russia and Ukraine if he wins November’s US presidential election and has developed “well-founded plans” for doing so, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán has claimed after private discussions with the Republican candidate.

[...]

Orbán’s office declined to comment when contacted by the Financial Times, which has seen his letter. Trump’s campaign team did not immediately respond to a request for comment."

^^^ JFC, this just keep getting worse.

Trump definition of peace

Give Putin what he wants and the shooting stops
To be clear, reports of shootings will stop. Many Ukrainians would simply be purged via Genocide of various means and methods.
In Trump's world, there is peace when everyone else is dead.

As long as Kiev stands independent from Russia I don't think there will be much a of a sustained peace. "Oh look, we still have a piece of breakout oblast next door (that might join NATO any year now)". And I don't think that the current government of Ukraine will agree on being partitioned and reduced and be forced to make promises to not join NATO or the EU. And trusting Russia to keep its promises this time around seems ..somewhat irrational.

I can, and it scares the living shit out of me.
There certainly are historical indications of such. Still, until he actually wins I will continue to doubt. I was very sure he would win in 2016 and I think his appeal has run its course.

Best case for Ukraine in a Trump second/third term is to give up the dirt at current lines. They should jump on that day one. It is what it is.

NATO is fucked within the first year anyway. Well, it's gonna look different without the US that is for sure.

Russia stands to a net gain from climate change so clean coal is gonna make a comeback for sure. Oil oil oil moar oil.

Oh your poor women. Bout to get back in the kitchen pregnant arent they.

Also. Fuck Musk.

The Republican party faithful have critically suffered from atrophy of the logical learning centers of their minds in favor having their corrupted political cadre and politicized religious elders tell them what to think, how to think and when to think whenever the facts of Trump's malfeasance and racist anti-social behavior sees the light of day. It's like their GOP mob bosses installed these on-off switches in their minds and are remotely voice activated, especially when Trump fondles and fiddles with those switches. There is no hope for them even after Trump ceases to exist because another mind-bending sorcerer will take his place without skipping a beat.

So I'm certain you're referring to the non-beguiled independents and those few conservatives who have/had found themselves and escaped the conservative funny farm, yes?

They're all fucking owned by Vladimir Putin.

The scary part is they're doing it willingly, rapturously even without ever pondering on the consequences of their actions. Well, who could blame them when they have within easy reach the Democrats to blame for forcing them to do it....over and over and over again.

I could be referring to that I suppose but it is not how I would put it and I really don’t know how to put it other than by some sort of probably odd sounding inference:

I believe that the programming you speak of is a universal defect created by the evolution of language. It does not affect just those cultist Trump supporters but all of us.

Language is a survival tool that makes possible the transference of information and lived experience to our children based on another powers of the human brain, the imagine, predict, and differentiate. Language makes it possible for humans to dived the world into things and to assign them properties, to attach emotional states To various experiences.

We ate fruit from the tree of knowledge and created self awareness of our individuality and separateness and good and evil based on our ability to feel pleasure and pain. And in the process we learned to use language to intimidate and control, to have expectations and standards of behavior, taboos and punishment. We learned to use language to put people down.

We turned dualistic thought into suffering and with it fear via imagining it happening to us again when it did.

But because no child can survive in a constant state of awareness of the pain of negative self identification we learned to behave, to conform, to fit in, to play the game, to compete, to use cunning to manipulate, to get pleasure from the suffering of others out of having been told we are worthless as children when we and the world we one and the same.

So as out true potential as human beings was snuffed out by fear of suffering, it is via suffering there is a way back. It’s why religion and psychotherapy etc can cause transformative healing. The greater the awareness of the pain hidden within, the greater the need to escape it.

And who is it that will do the search? The search will always be done by the sickness itself, the thinker. The more acute the realization of the hopelessness of the situation becomes the greater the chance that thought will come to an end. When there is no way out a realization can happen. You are your real self and have always been. There is only love, the lover and the beloved are one.

Everybody is enlightened. It’s nice to know it as some Zen master said.

So when you think I must mean those not affected by Republican bull shit, I lump that bullshit into a larger existential condition. Humanity is asleep living in a nightmare, but the worse it gets, the closer the realization of the utter self destruction we long for, the greater will become a sense of real need. The greater the crisis the more the need to awaken.

I have hope because I died from hopelessness. I could not hang on to all the sacred bullshit I had been taught, the prison of belief. Now I know there is nothing to know. All of our dreams are delusional but what causes us to dream, the memory deeply hidden that joy and being are one and the same thing.

Trump is the sickness we cling to because we were told never to try to escape. The question is, do we really want to allow that sickness to rule over us? Not my idea of a good plan.

Remember when the Trump administration abandoned our Kurdish allies literally in the middle of the night?

Used and abused.

Not sure what thread to post this on. Really curious what was said in this discussion. As much of a Trump mini-me, as Johnson is, he was fairly resolute on Ukraine (despite the Tory party's financial links with Russians not a million miles from Putin, as set against that, Johnson always had a Churchill "we will fight them on the beaches" WW2 reenactment fantasy thing gong on in his head).

I doubt Johnson dared say anything forcefully enough to have any effect, but I don't see that they would have been on the same page on this topic at all.

Donald presented him a little sample of the kompromat that the Kremlin has on him and Boris is now 100% on the Trump train.

I doubt that. If Russia had that why wouldn’t they have used it when Johnson was PM?
