1x Powercolor 4850

Stock without 80mm exhaust fan in the back of case:

Idle: 78C
Load: 101C
Room: 31C

*After replacing thermal grease with AS5:

Idle: 75C
Load: 98C
Room: 32C

50% fan and without 80mm exhaust fan:

Idle: 55C
Load: 82C
Room: 32C

*AS5:

Idle: 54C
Load: 79C
Room: 31C

75% fan and without 80mm exhaust fan:

Idle: 53C
Load: 77C
Room: 31C

*AS5:

Idle: 54C
Load: 75C
Room: 32C

100% fan and without 80mm exhaust fan:

Idle: 51C
Load: 68C
Room: 33C

*AS5:

Idle: 51C
Load: 65C
Room: 31C

Now with exhaust fan and AS5 already applied:

Stock:
Idle: 68C
Load: 92C
Room: 31C

50%:
Idle: 47C
Load: 72C
Room: 32C

75%:

Idle: 45C
Load: 68C
Room: 32C

100%:

Idle: 43C
Load: 64C
Room: 33C

Included results with and without the exhaust fan to show you the impact of having one in your PC.

Now for a special bench: one 80mm and one 120mm exhaust (2 fans) with AS5, and fan at 50%:

Idle: 45C
Load: 68C
Room: 32C

Note: the 120mm fan is on the side of the case, about directly to the side of the card. Hmm... or should I say, it's not sucking air out of the fan, but it's sucking air out from the top of the card, whereas the 80mm is pulling out air from the CPU cooler and the back of the card.

GPU Make & Model: Sapphire 4870

Temps are from an average room temp of 75-80F

After thermal paste treatment but with stock fan settings:
Before idle: [78C] (10 deg drop from out of the box idle)
Before load: [never attempted a full load before fan fix]

---

Fan speed: [20% for idle profile]
After idle: [48-51C]
After load: [61C]

Fan speed [40% for gaming profile]
After idle [39-41C]
After load [45-48C]

Side Note: I did replace the thermal paste with OCZ Freeze. Right out of the box I was idling at 89C and I never put it under full load until after the fax fix AND thermal paste swap since I didn't want to damage the GPU in any way.

Good stuff guys, keep them coming. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth it for me to keep my Akasa Vortexx Neo and Zalman ram sinks or not.

Just installed Accelero S1 rev. 2 with a Noctua 120mm fan. Fan is insanely silent. To the point that I can actually hear a fly buzzing in the room now.

New temps:

Idle: 40 - 45C
Load: 61 - 65C
Room: 29C

Core and memory at 700/1100(2200).

Edit: I know this is only for fan fixes, but I thought you would be interested in an aftermarket cooler results as well.

don't know load because 3D Mark locks up on my PC

got a VisionTek 4870 yesterday

Default Fan Speed: Idle - high 70s
100% Fan Speed: Idle - 40 C
39% Fan Speed: Idle - high 40s

I'm not sure why but switching fan speeds between 39% and 40% created a noticeable increase in noise. I didn't hear anything different between the default fan speed and 39% (have a 120 mm fan in the back and Tuniq 120 fan running at max and keep case open though), but going from 39% to 40% created a noticeable increase in noise. The fan basically revved up when going from 39% to 40%. Hearing the fan at 100% is pretty funny though.

bookmarked for later

edit:

I adjusted my fan speed to 35% using the CCC profile method. Everything seems fine, I play a game and it's working great. I reboot and the computer won't start. I try turning it off, it won't shut off. So I turn off the PSU, then the computer is completely dead. I swap in my old video card and it boots up fine.

WTF
