I have an ancient nikon d40 (very compact dslr) and found it heavy. I totally understand the weight. I am going to the M43 format too. I have my eye on the G3.
originally, I wanted to get the gf3, but i want more control.
When you're ready to dump that ancient/heavy D40, let me know.

I went on a trip recently and while I brought my DSLR I actually didn't bother with it, instead preferring to use the under 1 megapixel camera at the end of my iPod touch. Yes, the 720p camera this thing has.
If you use a panoramic software suite, you can get a good 5 megapixel image using the thing.
I do feel your pain. I find that the S95 is great for family snaps, and I always have it with them. I do find that the DSLR is used more since I got the R Strap (Christmas gift), as it is more out of the way when carrying, and ready to use almost instantly (carried without lens cap, and always on).

I guess the time has come for me. I sold not only the camera but also all the lenses, flash, shutter release...etc.
I recall once telling somebody here that I carry 5d + 24-70mm L all the time when I go outside and I don't consider them heavy. Things have changed since then: I found DSLR setup to be heavy and damn annoying for my need.
I thought about getting NEX 5n or 7 but its lack of lenses and terrible JPEG processing stopped me from finalizing the deal. (Come on, Sony. I know people has made fun of you for showing much noise but it's better to show noise than smearing the hell out of pixels. At least, provide an option to turn that damn thing off.)
Since I want both picture and video quality, it's hard to find a right camera since it doesn't exist. Rumored Fuji mirrorless sounds sweet but I've got no expectation on it since Fuji is currently doing very poorly in video world.
I guess my only hope is Panasonic GH3 that should be due soon.
Oh well, is anyone here on the same boat as me?

Oh it's the X10 sensor not X100. I wonder how good this camera is.
The x100 sensor is the same size as typically found in DSLRs. The X10 and the superzoom camera have a sensor that's only slightly bigger than a typical compact has.

It's 2x as big and the lens looks like about 2x the area vs a normal superzoom like my HX1. Sounds like a nice compromise since you get 26x zoom and 624mm equivalent. It's ugly as sin though. The rubberized body makes it look cheap.
