hot damn, that's my team!

I followed them back when they were on a "hot streak" I'm trying to remember the awesome running back they had. Also trying to remember how old I was.

that is your team, but you don't know their record?

It was a joke, I used to follow them when I was younger. I like to watch NFL football but don't really have a team. Recently someone asked what my team was and it reminded me that I used to like the Broncos.

The running back I'm thinking of was Terrell Davis. I was just a teenager back then. Wow.

You've had 2 in the last 15 years? I'd kill to be you

Are you from Cleveland or San Diego? EDIT: Oh, Columbus. Yeah... I'm sorry

No matter what anyone may say, the truth is that they have been inconsistent since Elway left....over 10 years ago :

edit:

we'll see how long they hold 3-0. Good start...but the past can't simply be tossed away that fast. Lets get 2/3rds of the way through the season and then we can truly begin to assess things from a "So, are things different now?" basis.

pretty weak man. you're what we call in philly a front runner.

seriously, imagine being a phillies or eagles fan for 25 years. we're passionate even when they suck balls. redskins fans are a bunch of puss's anyways who always talk shit in the beginning of the season while the iggles cowboys and giants fans collectively just laugh at them.

Lol, your poor team hasn't won a championship since those back-to-back titles in 97-98! Elway only took them to 5 Super Bowls! Awww, poor guy!

Oh, and don't even pretend your team is going places. A nice start, to be sure, but it took one of the craziest and luckiest plays in NFL history to eek out a win in Cincy.

Anyway, OP, don't give up on the 'Skins. Yea, Daniel Snyder has made some terrible decisions, but he's pumped so much money into that team it's ridiculous. He even tried bringing back your god in Joe Gibbs. They're trying, it's just the results haven't been there. Plus, it's the NFL. EVERYONE has a chance in the NFL, with their hard salary caps and revenue sharing. Unlike baseball...

Speaking of, as others have mentioned, at least you're not a fan of the Pirates or Royals. Those teams are piss-poorly run and they don't spend a dime to improve. Sure, with the revenue sharing and added importance to young talent, some teams have drafted better and spent more on prospects. But that's about it. It's sad, when at the beginning of each season, you KNOW FOR A FACT which teams won't be contending. The Pirates and Royals are just two, but they are guaranteed doormats.

The return to late 80's greatness isn't coming back.

18 years to rebuild just doesn't cut it. I think we have a management problem. Like the owner!

Jack Kent were are you now?

this is why you need a good team that you also support. I grew up a Redskins fan and remain one. They're just on...hiatus. I pull for them whenever I can, but I haven't gotten to watch a game in a looong time, having lived in Chicago and now the Bay Area for the previous 6 years.

Of course, it helps that with the drafting of favorite college players--Holt to the Rams and Rivers to the Chargers several years after that, I'm able to find other teams that I can pull for.

To me--"my" team has always been a college team. I felt like making allegiance with a pro team is rather stupid. of course, that's the environment I grew up in. When it comes to pro sports, I find that I'm more allied to individuals than I am to teams. Then again, that's pretty much how contemporary pro sports is set up anyway with collective bargaining and such.

I don't care you choose to look at it. You quit on your team because they lost one game, that means you suck.

If you mean by "losing one game" that they've been losing that one game for nearly 5 straight seasons, have been terribly inconsistent, have made godawful draft, personal, and trade decisions, and have one of the most ridiculously incompetent front offices, then yeah...you'd be right.

Why? Why would you encourage bad management? It's like the Pirates. They have no reason to get better because they still make a profit. A true fan would realize that and boycott the team until they made an effort to get better.

If the red skins (or lions, or any other team) makes a profit while sucking because people still go to games and watch them on TV and by merchandise, then they have no reason to pay more $$ to improve talent of players and coaches/management.

If I were a true fan, I would start boycotting a team if I thought they were making no effort to improve.

The SOP when your team sucks is to bitch about the coaching and management and to continue supporting the players who aren't looking to dump the team as soon as they can get free agency.

You think the management gives a shit that you aren't happy? All they care about is $$. If you aren't happy, but still give them your $$, they won't do anything to change.

Exhibit B: LA Clippers.

So you're one of those clowns the only likes a team because they're good. Some people have no soul and can do this kind of thing, I can't

No soul? Professional sports is a business. I love my college teams through thick and thin, but I won't support a professional team that makes no effort to improve. I'll support a team that has an off season (or couple seasons) as long as they show some effort to get better.

Exactly. To think there is any heart left in the professional sports corporations is to be incredibly naive. It's almost as blind as those current Cleveland fans who seem to think that the current Browns are not an expansion team.

I think after 25 years of support I have earned the right to give up support.

oh yeah you suck! hah

Nope

So you're saying that you haven't earned the right to grow up and care about the more tangible things in life? How about people get to choose who and how they want to support when it comes to sports?

Are you still in highschool, or do you have some other reason to remain woefully oblivious to aspects of life that actually matter?

granted, the skins have looked like complete ass this season, they are making progress on the offensive side as far as moving the ball.

the skins are in a rebuilding phase right now. this is the 2nd year they've had consistency in a long long time. they aren't going to go 16-0, get with reality. their 6-2 start last year was somewhat of a fluke too.

im just as frustrated as the next skins fan, but skins for life here.

Dude did u watch the Rams game? There ain't no rebuiliding that kinda play.

We have been rebuilding since the early 90's!

How long do you think it takes?

Campbell isn't a franchise QB. Until we get one we are in a never ending rebuild.

Baltimore has had a rather solid decade without a franchise quality QB" at the helm. It all depends on the system, if that system works, and the pieces of that system doing their job effectively.

Indeed, their ownership sucks balls, too. But the Raiders had ~3.5 solid seasons not too long ago, later than the Skins. hell, they made it to the Superbowl in 2003.

I think the Skins sucking for a decade is what made me see the light. I still cheer for the Redskins, but I'm no longer fanatical about it. I no longer go out and buy Redskins underwear, Redskins socks, Redskins windbreakers and winter jackets, Redskins license plate holder, Redskins coffee cup, Redskins shirts, t-shirts, and (sad to admit) Redskins zoobas. I just hope they win, and if they don't, I get over it. If I'm near a radio, I'll listen to the game. But I don't go out of my way to rearrange my schedule to put me in front of the television on a beautiful fall day when I could be outside enjoying some of the finest weather of the year. Thanks Dan Snyder, without you, I'd be wasting my Sundays on the couch.

Dan Snyder may be many things but cheap isn't one of them. He's one of the most spend happy owners.
