done with the panthers?

I wish, but I'm a glutton for punishment.

Richardson had the jueves to fire his sons this year. Let's hope he gets rid of Fox, Hurney and Delhomme soon before they become Detroit 2.0

Game 1, 2 and 3 made no halftime adjustments

Game 1 refused to bench Delhomme until the game was lost, was too stupid to call audibles to pick up blitzers, was too stupid to not keep a tight end or 2 in the backfield to pick up blitzers

Game 3...rush the ball....16 times...WTF??? Steve Smith is triple teamed nearly every down, throw to someone else or run the ball mebbe? How bout blitzing Romo more often, he caves under pressure?

I just hope they win, and if they don't, I get over it. If I'm near a radio, I'll listen to the game. But I don't go out of my way to rearrange my schedule to put me in front of the television on a beautiful fall day when I could be outside enjoying some of the finest weather of the year. Thanks Dan Snyder, without you, I'd be wasting my Sundays on the couch.

its all arbitrary anyways, whats the difference between rooting for one group of corporately managed contract athletes and another?

This.

I can almost understand fierce loyalty to college teams if you went to that school, since those years at the college were a substantial part of your life.

But pro teams? Especially pro teams in the free agency era? In college, you probably saw the players around campus, saw the coaches, etc. But, how many times have you personally met the star players on your favorite pro team, chatted with the coaches, etc? And, I'm talking more than just saying "Hi!" to the players at a corporately sponsored autograph session.

Loyalty to a pro team is silly. The owners of the teams are out to make as much $$$ as they can. The players are out to make as much $$$ as they can. The game just happens to be the means to making all that $$$. It is all so impersonal and corporate that it boggles my mind that people are so fanatically devoted to nothing more than a business...a business that will leave your town in a heartbeat if they can make more $$$ in another city. A team that will happily jettison your favorite All Star player if the owner is losing $$$ and wants to save $$$. It's all a business.

I really think you're talking out your ass or have never played sports at any level before. There is no way pro players could perform like they do if they had no passion for the game. When a player is only out to collect a paycheck it is obvious to the whole world because they stand out like a sore thumb, I'm looking at you Terrel Owens.

I'm not saying money has nothing to do with it, but to say it's only a business to the players and coaches is stupid. I hate Bret Farve, but he is obviously not making a business decision when he hauls he 39 year old body down field to make a block.

mmHmm...

And when your favorite team up and moves because they can make more money in another city, or they trade/cut your team's best player because the owner doesn't want to lose any more money, or your favorite player leaves the team for a bigger contract with your biggest rival, what will you say then? You will still say it's not all about the money?

The team and the players have absolutely no allegiance to you. They just want you to buy tickets and merchandise. They could care less. It's all about the $$$ to them. Blind and fervent loyalty to an impersonal corporation is baffling, but then again, I think with logic, so...

Why should the OP be loyal to a team that stinks and has consistently performed poorly for years upon years? Would you keep going back to a business that kept giving you horrible customer service, kept selling you defective products, etc.?

Professional sports teams are a business, and should be treated as one.

Did you live in the stadium for 30 years? The training facilities? The corporate offices?

Did you dorm with the players? Have class with the players? See the coaches in the hallways?

Everybody going to that college is a part of that college's community. Not everybody living in DC is part of the Redskins. Big difference.

If you can't see how a smaller and more intermingled college community is vastly more personal than a huge and sprawling metropolitan community, than I don't know what else to tell you...

no, you lived in the stadium? I lived next to redskins park.

A former beloved patriot lived above me in my old condo for several years (reggie evans). we are good friends. Had class with several players children (monte coleman often would go on field trips with us) and my mom groomed art monk and john riggins dogs (met them several times). my good friend lived in joe theisman's old house.

Actually no...the Redskins fail, yet you keep giving them your money and your devotion so that they can continue to fail...

Baffling indeed...

3-0

hot damn, that's my team!

I followed them back when they were on a "hot streak" I'm trying to remember the awesome running back they had. Also trying to remember how old I was.

that is your team, but you don't know their record?

It was a joke, I used to follow them when I was younger. I like to watch NFL football but don't really have a team. Recently someone asked what my team was and it reminded me that I used to like the Broncos.

The running back I'm thinking of was Terrell Davis. I was just a teenager back then. Wow.
TD was the $h!t. My fav RB of all time followed by Jim Brown. I loved watching TD bowl over guys and the Broncos going with a run on 3rd and 6 and actually getting it.. man I miss those days.

seriously, imagine being a phillies or eagles fan for 25 years. we're passionate even when they suck balls. redskins fans are a bunch of puss's anyways who always talk shit in the beginning of the season while the iggles cowboys and giants fans collectively just laugh at them.

this is funny. philly fans are regarded as the scum of the earth.

not really. we just get crap for the stupid santa claus thing that happened over 40 years ago

have fun watching any other NFC East team come playoffs time

Orton is the kind of QB that won't win a game for you, but most of the time won't lose it for you either. He's decently smart, decently accurate, really mediocre in every way.

Biggest thing with a QB is to not get a stupid one, even with all the talent in the world, a QB that can't read coverages and blitz packages will lose a game (see: Vince Young).

Orton isn't physically gifted like VY and he's not mentally gifted like Jeff Garcia, but he's got just enough to manage a game and not lose it and that's about all you can ask from him. With a good supporting cast, Orton won't add anything, but he won't cripple your team either.

edit: Go Eagles, I've been there from my first 3-13 season to the 13-3 seasons. There's heartbreak and anticipation followed by heartbreak but the Eagles just have so much history, I would never be able to leave them. Philadelphia is my favorite city I've ever lived in just because of how (brutally) honest and passionate the blue collar, working class fans in the city are.

You can be a elite, dispassionate $160 ticket prices and $40 parking prices Cowgirls fan or you can watch some real football with some real fans.
