woopsi.
I meant the director's commentary, original cut
The writer is the director And having seen the normal version I don't think he's a moron. Not everyone knows latin, if he only would have said Deus Ex Machina I would have thought of Deus Ex, the computer game.
I guess the thing that bothered me is that I thought the film was really *there*, and I could have believed that someone created it with intelligent purpose, as opposed to it being serendipity. Instead, in the commentary, he came across as being about as competent as first year undergrad film student. On pot. Even when art is serendipitous, IMHO the mark of a true artist is being able to proffer an intelligent suggestion of what the work might signify. Instead, I had the feeling that this guy got very lucky. Seeing the deleted scenes made me think that the editor saved this movie. In particular, the ecstasy of st. theresa scene is just over the top - my impression is that the intent was to be "deep" simply by referencing a piece of oft studied art (and also a ham-handed way of making the movie overbearingly religious/christian)
One thing I hope for the directors cut is that they don't try to explain the movie. Can you tell me, since you probably have seen both version, which one is better? DC or normal? Was about to get the DVD, but now I'm unsure if I shouldn't wait.
I agree that if there is an attempt at explanation it will suck.
I don't know, but has Alyssa Milano has been known in the end of the 80s? And I find her quite... ugly. Not really, but there are thousands of better looking ladies.
Hm. I was thinking back to Who's the Boss in the 80's, and at the time I thought she was soo hot. I figured she must have gotten ugly, so I went looking for older celebrity pics, and I guess it must have been all those pubescent hormones, because I can't see why I would have ever thought that
Still though, she's a big step above Christina Appelgate.
