slsmnaz - put your economics book away and quit trying to sound sophisticated. Neweggs prices stink on certain products, AMD processors happens to be one of those products

I appreciate the compliment since I do have an Econ degree . I sell piping for a living. There are a few customers who think like you, but not many. Most customers understand the added value in me being able to service their needs or handle problems and know that is added to my price. I'm not trying to just sound smart, this is similar to what I do and how I make a living. I do it all day, every day.

Newegg = Screwegg

They were selling the X2 4400+ Retail for $729 went out of stock and sold again at that price. Mwave, Monarch, ZZF, etc. all charge less, go out of stock and still charge less. Newegg is that last place I'll buy something. You can always find a better price and yes even better customer service. I bought my X2 4400+ from Mwave and they actually called me to let me know that my order had just shipped and that I would be getting a tracking number in the email in a couple of weeks.

I don't care if they have something else that I might need for a little bit cheaper than some place. They lost my business when they continue to charge $699 for the X2 4400+ Retail when Tankguys is selling it for $598.

I do not understand why Screwegg cannot lower their prices consistent with AMD's current pricing for out of stock AMD CPU's. After all, it is not like they have older inventory at "the old price" they have sell.

There's no reason to bash newegg, just don't buy from them, that's bashing enough. Heck, last time I checked, they offered pretty good prices on just about every other computer part.

Froogle and Pricewatch are your friend, not newegg, they provide a service you can choose to accept if its good enough. If its not good enough do no buy from them.

Simple as that.

Just another newegg bashing thread. "yawns" why not bash other vendors instead...like compusa, bestbuy, pcclub, etc.

Yeah... I usually do a quick price comparison between newegg, zipzoomfly and monarchcomputers before buying anyways.

i personally love the great service i get from newegg. i always use pricewatch and usually end up there anyway. I also use monarch and a few others as well from time to time. as far as the price on amds go, all i acn say is that i bought my retail 4400x2 more than a month ago for 632 shipped from newegg. the price has jumped around alot, but thats buisness in 2005. anyone who has been in sales will understand. use pricewatch (or whatever you prefer) and find your best deal considering shipping, item cost, and also customer service.

I really can't add much that hasn't been said on either side of the argument.

I'm also one who feels this is a simple case of economics. Newegg is a few times bigger than their next largest competitor: whose inventory is probably in a greater state of flux (making price drops less complicated,) or they're simple trying to gain a greater foothold in the market with amazing sales on mostly high profile/traffic items etc. On a related note, manufacturers' price decreases on average usually take a month or two to really take effect.

Bottom line, as long as you, as the consumer, shops around, and looks for overall best price, product, shipping, service, sales and return policies, then this discussion should be fairly moot. And being you don't even need to leave your chair to find amazing sales and bargains, we should consider our generation lucky.... just ask your forlorn & road weary parents.

I've also gotten enough value from Newegg over the years and have come to greatly appreciate their business model.... which incidentally, everyone is currently trying to emulate.

I have had nothing but good customer service and pricing from newegg...but I don't buy things righht when they come out. I have only had one order from Monarch and I am happy to say that it was probably my last. They took 2 weeks to send my my 3200+ Venice, while my motherboard and RAM was delivered only 2 days later with their free shipping option...I even payed for teh 2 day shipping on the Venice, it sure as hell only took 2 days after they sent it, but it took them 11 days to finally send my processor to me. I usually shop around and check all prices from the various vendors and try to save myself some money, but if I ever need something in a short amount of time I will not be ordering from Monarch ever again.

Hmm...zipzoomfly, mwave and monarch all selling for cheaper? Could it be *gasp* that they're doing it to grab share from the leader newegg? Seriously, the fact that you wasted the time to post this leads me to believe you expected people to thank you for pointing out something pricegrabber could have, or you have an axe to grind

shop around people....I used to be an avid newegg shopper a couple years ago, now I shop around because most of the time I can find a better price out there. Newegg has a 3000+ venice OEM and Retail for the same price. I go on ewiz, and it's 117 . I frequent the Hot deals forum now, and there's always a better deal going on, you just have to be on the lookout

I could complain about Monarch too. I ordered a cpu/mobo combo (with freebies) from them last month. On the phone they claimed they had the cpu in stock so I ordered it and they charged my CC card immediately. 10 days later, no combo. Turns out they had been OOS. Then when the combo did arrive it was minus the freebies. I emailed them and they sent them out. One of the freebies was a 4 four months trial of Napster. As it turned out the trial ended in May. I emailed them and they said they would send out another one, but it has yet to arrive over a week later.

All-in-all this was a really poor showing by Monarch, the like of which I have never had from NewEgg. At least with NewEgg you get what you order and on time. If their price is too high for a particular item, don't buy it from them, it's that simple.

Why do people get so upset over a $6 difference in price between onlime retailers? Are we really that cheap?

I'm just happy to not get screwed over and actually get my item when I'm shopping online. Plus I dont like to toss my credit card number across the internet to 30 different sites. So newegg is a nice safe place to buy for me, and regardless if it's $10 less at another site, at least I know I'll get what I ordered. Plus you cant beat the selection.

btw if zipzoomfly, monarch, or ewiz, etc want to compete with newegg, they should look at updating their website's interfaces. Those are some of the crapiest online stores I've ever seen.

Where do you only get 6 dollars??? Learn math buddy!!! Most ppl are not just talking about the 3800+ but the fact that newegg only a few weeks ago had the retail 4400+ at 736.00 dollars....At the time it was 80 dollars more then the other main retailers....

Get with the story ppl!!!

actually I have never had an issue with getting a wrong item except at newegg once...to each his own on their own experiences....plus Mwave and ZZF have as big a selection....

The only reason I get newegg sometimes is that they are in Cali and for me in OR my things arrive with Fed-ex saver sometimes in 2 days....That is it...other then Thanksgiving sales and what not they haven't been the lowest price on many items for quite some time....

Duvie:

You'd also have to pay Cali tax. Might as well get it express shipped.

All:

So order from ZZF! Order from Mwave. Its not like anyone is forcing you to buy from Newegg! The only reason a lot of people tend to like Newegg here is because they are always fast and always reliable, and many have been buying from them ever since they started out.

Well, 6 dollars over there, 5 dollars over here, and extra shipping elsewhere is alot. Sometimes, those extra dollars can make or break a budget.

True but I'm going to be ordering parts for a system I'm building most of them are going to come from Newegg, granted when it comes to the expensive parts, GPU and CPU, I'll shop around for the best price but generally Newegg is in line with other online retailers when it comes to RAM, optical drives, mobo's etc, and like others said they are fast and reliable, I've ordered from them 4 times now and each time I had my part in 2 days with just the Fed-Ex express saver shipping, and I live in Michigan!

EDIT: Something should also be said for their selection, I just looked up the EPoX EP-9NPA+ SLi for Socket 939 at mwave, tigerdirect, directron, monarch, zzf, and newegg, only newegg and mwave had them in stock and newegg was cheaper, and since thats the mobo i want i know where i'll order it from, now thats only one example but you cant be so quick to judge without looking things up.

it looks like they lowerd the prices. the 3500 venice is $230 and the 3700 San Diego is $280. its just not a few dollars, its $50, and that makes a difference to me

That's why I just registered a tax id, a resale number, and I buy everything locally usually 5% below online cost. Plus I don't have to pay a penny for shipping. If it's something for a friend or client, they pay the tax and I pay my taxes. If it's something for me I pay my taxes, write it off, and at the end of the day I'm happy knowing I'm no supporting an online conglomerate who's going to end up screwing me eventually. Locals shops have the convenience and impatience charges but that's why they're better than online shops. I have a real live person in front of me to bitch at when I get dead board, cpu, etc.

Bingo!

No worries about the dreaded "Sorry that item is no longer in stock, 1-2 week delay..." emails ala some of these other jokers.

Quit whining about the Egg. Pay up or go somewhere else.

I usually just use Newegg as a means for "window shopping" and then i go purchase the item elsewhere because the majority of the time most of the more hot items are cheaper somewhere else. ZZF and Monarch have gotten alot of my money lately.
