Tom Mabe is a comedian who pulls great public pranks, such as tormenting a telemarketer and being the world's worst babysitter.

But he's a good friend who practices tough love. Mr. Mabe has an alcoholic friend. This friend has had 5 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol. Mr. Mabe and his colleague Jim Clark staged an intervention in the form of a prank.

After the drunk driver passed out, they moved him into a fake hospital room and convinced him that he had been in a coma for 10 years.
The funniest bit is the news update that the patient sees when he turns on the television.

Should have kept it going longer, brought in an older version of his daughter.

The guy was laughing at the end, he clearly doesn't give a shit.

Should have put the asshole into a real induced coma for 10 years and kept him locked up in an empty warehouse.

Anyone who had 5 DWI's should never be allowed to drive again. There are too many assholes like this on the road.

Come to think of it why the hell did he not lose his licence anyway? I would imagine after the 2nd time that would be it. I guess he'd have to kill somebody for that to happen. kinda sad when you think about it.

The news report made it worth it.

I wonder how convinced he actually was though.

Yeah dude didn't care.

He seemed very nonchalant about it. Probably more interested in whether they still make Natty Ice in 2023. I'm calling shens on this prank.

Yeah, no kidding. People like that should be given dangerous offender status and kept locked up. Once is a mistake, five times is reckless disregard for the lives of yourself and others.

Just because you take away a drunk driver's license, that doesn't stop them from driving...even confiscating their car doesn't stop them...they just buy another one.

Jail/prison is the only way to stop a drunk driver from driving...or death. (and all too often, they kill someone else and the drunk walks away.)

I'm all for much stricter DUI laws in this country.

1st offense...loss of driving privileges for 1 year, and up to 1 year in jail. (sentence based on BAC level)

2nd offense, MANDATORY 1 year in jail, loss of driving privilege for 5 years.

3rd offense MANDATORY 5 years in prison, lifetime loss of driving privilege.

4th offense, life in prison, no parole.

Should ANY of the offenses result in the death of someone other than the DUI driver, MANDATORY life in prison, no parole.

I personally have no problem with the cops parking outside of bars, taverns, cocktail lounges, sports arenas...and pulling over anyone who even MIGHT be intoxicated.

Get the fucking drunks off the road.

Let's ban alcohol. There is no benefit.

Nah...that's been tried and failed in the US of A.

I'm not anti-drinking...just anti-drinking and driving.

Want to get shit-faced drunk? Do it at home.

IMO, climbing into a vehicle while drunk is about the same as blindly pointing your pistol down main street and firing off a few rounds. You might not hit anyone...or you might kill a family.

Second offense should be 10 years in jail and permanently revoked license. The first should be a 5 year license suspension and one year in jail, along with 15k fine.

The ONLY reason I MIGHT disagree with this is because SOMETIMES, people get a DUI without realizing they're .01 or .02 over the legal limit...and don't feel buzzed enough to be past that limit.
(yes, I know...that's not a valid excuse for driving intoxicated, but barring any extra issues such as an accident, a bit of a break for the FIRST one isn't unreasonable)
As it is, in California, the first DUI will cost you close to $10K before you're through. (lawyer, court costs, fines, DUI classes, etc.)

the DUI guy is a full on southern hick retard, you can hear it in his voice. i wonder what saddens in his life so much that he resorts to drinking that much. how can you get that fat, Americans are pathetic and I am one.

if you didn't watch the video he has 5 DUIs already. mabe should have been decking him harder.

i have no idea how he doesn't have a permanent loss of license. totally screwed up laws. you are licensed to ride a bicycle for the rest of your life.

the only issue i have with DUI is the one size fits all BAC

there are too many variables like people's size and weight, body fat content and simple genetics that make them more or less tolerant of alcohol.

that guy is fat, he must be drinking it up to get that BAC.

usually when I see a DUI license plate I stare at them at the stop light. That is their punishment, public embarrassment.

How do you repeat a crime that many times and not lose your license. I've been in traffic court before and there was a 30 day in jail punishable offense that I committed and it was nowhere near what the hell this guy has done repeatedly.

It gets put on your record and you become a snowball out of control life, nobody will (or should) hire you, etc.

But there's no way to know that, so the only recourse is to ensure that the amount of alcohol in your system would be safe for anybody. It's not a hard law to follow.
