Don't drive your lifted pickup truck...

Pulling out of my apartment this lifted (about 12") Chevy pickup comes screaming by going about 60-70mph in a 40mph. With those big blocky tires it sounds like an airplane. About 1/2" mile up the road (it's slightly curved and hilly) I come upon this debris and burnt rubber smoke so I slow down. He's sitting sideways in the road, he must of lost control, slammed on his brakes and hit a tree in the center median. He slowly drove off with lots of damage, but I couldn't get his plate. I see a ton of those lifted trucks in SoCal and I just don't get it...

The other day I saw a lifted SUV (very lifted) that rolled at a stoplight in a city intersection. Idiot... that's what he gets for jacking his car up.

I hate lifted trucks. People drive them like idiots and most annoyingly, they do not adjust their headlights in order to not blind everyone.

It seems that cops don't care to pull them over either. Worst than the ricers around here.

lol just about half the trucks in socal are lifted with a Tapout or RVCA sticker on the back window. Yeah they usually drive like morons. And yes I've seen a number of Corvettes, Lambos and other exotic cars drive them like normal people on regular streets. Generally guys in WRXs, S2ks and porsches drive like idiots

I think these 'lifters' should mate with 'ricers'.... That way their kids would be driving normal cars...

ricers atleast mostly endanger themselves. lifted trucks endanger everyone even those in normal suvs. never mind blocking view ahead and such. whenever i see one i can almost garrantee they'll drive like jackasses.

Actually, that won't work at all, then you'll end up with a Donk Honda!

I drive a lifted truck, and I disagree....

of course, I haven't had a speeding ticket (or any moving violations...or even pulled over for that matter) in almost 10 years.

Unless 6" lift with 35" tires isn't lifted anymore....

I have a mild lift kit on my 4x4 86 Nissan D21 pick-up, and i have to agree with nweaver. I've never gotten a ticket in it, but I also know how to drive a truck. I don't take curves in it like a regular car, and I made sure my head lights were adjusted after I put the lift kit on it so I wouldn't be blinding the poor sob in front of me in his honda or toyota. Its the dumb arses that drive 'em that give the rest of us 4x4'ers a bad name. My 4x4 is also not my everyday vehicle. You should use one for every day use either unless you live in an area where you have to or go to work where you need one as a truck or suv with larger tires is going to get worse gas mileage especially if it is a 4x4. I have a problem with people that drive regular cars like dumb arses and want to yank them out of their car and pants em.....i.e. tail gaters, bright lights on all the time, and like the interstate is the freaking daytona 500.

My complaint with them is that they have massive tires sticking out of the fenders and don't put fender flares and flaps on the damn things - they throw rocks everywhere.

as someone who used to have a lifted truck, i think it is extremely stupid. keep it off road if you want to lift it. they dont belong on the street.

Hahah

This story made my day. I hate idiots who drive like that, esp. in parking lots and weaving back and forth and sitting crooked between two lanes at a stoplight because they keep trying to move back and forth to which ever lane moves 2 inches.

Jackass.

Just out of curiosity, this being in the Southwest, and it wouldn't surprise me: what ethnicity and did you smell bud light? Family name on the rear window in old english writing ending with a z? Or those family stickers where there are two parents and 40 kids from one side of the window to the other, Altezza tail lights, etc?

Because I guarantee you when you see someone driving like that in Tucson, AZ, it's almost always all of the above, and none of them have insurance.

It should be against the law (if it isn't already) to modify a vehicle like that. People don't take into account the changed handling and performance of the vehicle. Higher center of gravity, increased unsprung weight, effectively negating any crash safety design. You know those special safety bumpers on new trucks designed so cars don't end up sliding under the truck? Well gee, kinda negates any design to prevent that.

It just pisses me off. Sure you can modify the hell out of a sports car and as long as its not too loud or uses street legal tires, it is perfectly street legal and does not endanger everyone around you (except for the danger posed by the driver, which is true in any car). But these fckers jack the hell out of their POS truck and fly around with huge tires like they're in the goddamn bayou - yeah, 'cuz driving from their sh!tass apartment with all the other tobacoo chewing hicks over to the Agricultural Education departments on campus really necessitate THAT

I wouldn't go so far as to make it illegal. You may want to ban those trucks, but there are plenty of people who would ban any car that made more than 50 HP, got less than 60 mpg city, has rims too big or too small, and eventually someone would want to ban something that you have done to your car because they think it's dangerous or poor taste.

I agree with banning stupid people though

we used to...it was called "natural selection" but we have improved warning labels/safety/medical care so much it negates the effects, allowing those genes back into the pool.....

oh, and I agree, don't ban my pickup. How many freaking ricers street race and cause problems, lets ban all performance mods for import cars. Oh wait, that's extreme, and not the case.

I have a lifted truck, and same as above, don't daily drive it. It's there for some offroad use and to pull a horse trailer, and does great at those things. If I had a nickle for every time one of you punk kids in your riced out neon cut me off when I have a heavy truck with 8K of weight hanging off the rear frame, causing me to slam my brakes on and nearly kill you.....btw, I could probably go OVER one of those and not get too hurt, thank goodness for old, well built trucks. I got a bumper + winch that would make mincmeat of your little civic.

Nothing says "Consumer whore" like putting a sticker of the clothes you wear on the back of your car. The easy way to tell if a 4x4's a poser: thier fender liners are black.
