Recognized?? You mean like walking down the street?

No... Admit it, Red, you have made a name for yourself (in some people's eyes good, others' bad, but that's besides the point). I'd much rather be the guy that when people see my post they go "Who the hell is that?!" than "Oh, that's another one of yiwonder's posts. God I love his posts." I don't know why. I guess I just like the anonymity of the Internet. I dunno... I told you I was just babbling.

anonymity?? you are on a message board with a handle and an avatar, about as anonymous as it gets...

Is this the same kind of anonymity that was extended to jonnyGURU or a new form of anonymity I don't quite grasp the concept of?

I don't know how to say it. That's where I'm going wrong with this. I just don't want a well recogonized name just because. It's just my personality really. I go through life hovering under the radar. I guess I just don't care for the attention (good or bad). Like I said, there's gotta be a better way to put this, but I just can't right now...

Oh, and yes, I know, this is extremely anonymous. I probably should've picked a better word.

Edit: I just don't want a name for myself where everyone recognizes my handle (like a jonnyGURU). Pretty plain and simple I think, but then again, everything I say makes sense to at least me...

Amazing, the second time this month that I agree with RD. :Q
As much as RD and I disagree on many things, I think he's totally right this time.

This stinks though, along with many others I really enjoyed reading his rants.
I really can't see why anyone would bother emailing his employeers, the rants never even mentioned his employer in any manner. If anything he always came across as thinking quite highly of his employer. He never revealed whom the customers were so I see no real issue there, and while he did reveal the contents of the emails he never included any identifiable personal information.

He's a popular forum member that has done a lot for the place, it'll hurt to lose him.

Now the cat's out of the bag, who's his employer? And who is the RAT BASTARD that emailed them?

There is always a bad apple in the bunch. Some little whinny bitch with an inferiority complex and a small d|ck always has to start trouble.

I liked it better when it took brains to use a computer, and AOL was $2.95 an hour. No NEFS could afford it, and the ones that could were too dumb to annoy you anyway. I had a retard e-mail me a few days ago. 5 min later, I noticed I was getting multiple pings from a IP, so I halted them. The e-mail read "I'm a HaXoR! I'm gonna boot yer AZZ off the Net. You will never FiNd me!" I ran his IP, turned it into his ISP, sent him a reply, and got a e-mail back from the ISP saying they nuked his service. Yesterday I got a e-mail saying he was sorry, that is the only ISP in his area, and to e-mail his ISP so he can get his service back. I told him to FOAD.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people.

I wonder if it was the thread Johnny posted a little while ago? Johnny had written a note along with a refusal to exchange a t-bird and some guy kinda got on his case big time about not being a good employee and what would his boss think if he knew. I thought Johnny was a little over the top on that one, but come'on, emailing his boss. Sheeesh.

Personally I don't think anyone should send emails to JG's boss. JG still has his job. We don't want to bring this issue back up. Yes JG is awesome and we loved having him here and listening to his rants but I don't think emailing his boss is going to help anything.

I think it could actually agravate his boss. I think we should just let it die but I do think we should find the person that did it. I know JG says that he doesn't want anything done but that is because he is doing what is best for him. He shouldn't try to piss the person off anymore than he has. JG needs to simply get on with life but we should get this person for him.

Ah the voice of reason. Yep having a job is what's important. I'm sure JG will find another way to vent so some lowlife Rat wont snitch him out.

Jonny may be absolutly against what I'm about to suggest... but....

I've spent thousands and thousands of dollars at his place of employment. I've spent more then SINCE I found out that he worked there than I did before knowing it! I'm going to bet that I'm not the only person on the boards that tries to spend money there SPECIFICALLY because of him working there... i.e., trying to provide job security (stability of company) for a great board member and valued resource for our community.

I wonder what a small flood of emails praising Jonny's help to the community and also relaying the fact that although he purposely DOESN'T go around mentioning the name of his employer, it is none the less fairly well known and many of us (on a board with over 75,000 members) purchase from that place of business BECAUSE OF HIM, and that we would consider it a service to the internet community and to those of us who are customers, to ENCOURAGE Jonny to continue to post.

Just a thought... but I'm not going to jump in and do anything without at least a nod of the head from Jonny.

BTW... I also have to say I'm impressed with Jonny's lack of vengance, showing mercy to the person who started this mess. Good sign of great charecter.

I see your point. If I were to reflect on it I probably wouldn't want to be so notorious myself. But then I haven't the Will Power to stop myself.

Well, it's happened again.

PR doesn't provide complete information.

Information is provided by an "insider".

PR then complains about the information not coming from PR.

I believe that the best marketing is complete transparency. If you don't have that, press tends to make incorrect assumptions. The current instance of Linus vs. Epic Games is proof positive of that.

You have to have, and maintain, a two-way conversation with what you're doing and the people that are going to report what your doing whether they know all about what that is or not.

So the notice has gone out.. people within the company cannot talk about products or the product category unless it goes through PR first.

So with that, I must bow out as the man behind the curtain. At this point, I'm seriously considering moving out to the boonies and opening a bike shop or goat farm. This industry has way too much drama.

Damn, JG. I'm gonna miss your insightful commentary...especially about the world of power supplies. Losing Oklahoma Wolf from your site sucked too.
Thanks for all the good, useful information you provided and for TRYING to teach idiots like me.

They're probably the least "sexy" yet arguably the most important component...and I learned why on his website.

This is a huge loss for the community.

I gotta say the most dramatic computer failure I ever had was a PSU. They do indeed deserve more attention. Sorry to see you go, JG.

Yep ... I had a cap literally explode like an M-80 on of all things a PC Power & Cooling 710 watt PSU a few years ago. Scared the living crap out of me ... fortunately however it died alone taking no other expensive components along for the ride.

And sad to see you go JG ... been reading your reviews for a long time.

i would usually read his summary and scores before i bought one, like when i saw a great deal on a 1050w seasoic a few years. picked it up a couple years before i actually needed to build my next box.

it will probably last me the rest of my life
