The person that sent the mail to my work did nothing wrong. I'm sure somehow they feel justified. I CC'd the mods with the mail, but I didn't do so to get the name of the person to the mods, but to show the mods what was going on and why the thread needed to be deleted. I do NOT want the mods to pursue doing anything to this person because I'm sure that in other people's eyes, this individual is just as helpful to this community in some way or another as I or anyone else here.

Seriously I agree with Red Dawn. The school Marms as he calles them that have slowly invaded this place makes me sick. While it is true that they have been around for quite some time (almost as long as the new forum though in smaller numbers) it seems lately they have become unbareable. I have seen a lot of good people leave because of the bull$hit that goes on in here and frankly someone needs to do something about sooner rather than later. I for one nominate Red Dawn. At least we know there will be results. (of course wether these results have a positive effect is hard to determine)

Somebody should write his boss explaining what JG's posts mean to us and how what he posts is a positive. Also that it could be a plus for that company if he were given the permission to post as a member of that organization.Nothing like a little free positive publicity. JG never critisizes his company, just the incredibly ignorant buffoons that try to pull fast ones on them (probably like the asswipe who turned him in). Besides them leaning on him for posting about these morons, the company that he works for seems supportive (Plus their prices, products and shipping rates are good)

This place isn't what it used to be. I remember when General Hardware was a worthwhile forum to read - now it's people complaining about Via, ATI, and whining their newbie heads off. Off Topic has taken a nose dive too. I still check hot deals every so often...once in awhile there is actual a great deal that won't get cancelled due to a blatant typo or something - though not often.

My posts per day count keeps falling for good reason, there's no real reason for me to post here any more. There's no community and more, just a bunch of sad, lonely nefs.

I've purchased quite a few systems/components from Jon's employer only because I knew he was an RMA tech there.

I could buy things closer to home and not have to wait a week for shipping, but I don't, because Jon works there. Newegg often has better prices, but they don't have Jon to set things right when something craps out.

Whenever someone asks where to buy computer stuff, I send them a link to his employer because Jon works there.

Jon's bosses are lucky to have him on staff. He's one of the most straight up, honest to a fault guys I've come in contact with.

jonny, sorry to hear this has happened to you. To tell you the truth, similar incidents and members keep me from coming here much anymore myself. I have learned that the Internet is full of people who are so full of venom and spew that they practically wet themselves when presented with the opportunity to screw someone or verbally attack someone anonymously. It is the sad truth.

BTW, I'm not sure what the definition of a School Marm is here, but I hope you all don't think I am one of them. I consider myself just a guest/visitor who stops by to see my friends on occasion.

I'm sure the management of the company he works for is closely monitoring this thread. This isn't a bad idea but it could do more harm than good.

It's a shame to see this happen to such a good member of the community. Hope they catch this ahole and give 'em some good 'ole fashioned ...

I've just gotten sick of the ATOT soap opera. It's crap like this that just continues to convince me not to come here. Several months ago, I decided not to visit GH anymore because how bad that was. Not too long after that, I left completely because it was just getting way too stupid around here. I came back for a bit, but there's no reason to stay. I don't really have anything to lose personally because I stay very private and I'm sure that most of you haven't every seen me around here. I want that low profile. I don't want to be like Viper GTS or Red or NFS4 or some of the other "big names" because I don't want to be recognized. Hell, only one person that visits/visited this forum knows my last name and that was because of some RAM I bought from him. Even more, only a few know my first name. I just babbling, but hey, I don't care...

It's just too bad that this has happened. So what if he ranted about customers? Do bosses really think that some of the other employees don't go home and tell stories of stupid customers to their friends and family? C'mon... Jonny was telling his friends on the Internet about something funny that happened on the job. I'm sure many other employees make fun of their customers and calls after work. That's all Jonny was doing Jonny didn't reveal any personal information in all of his rants that I've read (and boy have I read many of them! They're always so good and funny).

Oh well. Luckily, I've found a few nice places to visit on the Internet with people that, at the least, wouldn't get me in trouble.

Sorry to hear that you'll be gone Jonny, but I do know some of the other places you hang around every so often, so maybe I'll see you there. We didn't really talk much, but I read most of your rants, and well, they're hilarious. I was waiting for the baby rants... BTW, how's Mrs. Guru doing? It should be somewhat soon now for the baby, right? Good luck with your life.

I concur.

I'm certain Jon meant no harm in anything he ever posted and obviously is enthusiastic about the trade he has chosen to be in... but there's the remote possibility that the management at his work may think the same thing about Jon's actions as the person that "snitched" on him in the first place. He never named names and never came out and said where he worked and rarely quoted anyone directly (yet never out of context either, I'm sure), but if it were known where he worked, his actions could be considered grossly unprofessional and in the thread in question, it was pointed out by more than one member where he worked.

Too bad.

Fortunately, Jon bouncing about the internet as "jonnyGURU" is as easy to find as the GONE.SCR worm is to find in multiple instances in an AOL user's email box. He'll be around.
