They have a very low resellerrating, I wouldn't bother with any vendor with a resellerrating lower than 8.

Then why so many idiots order from DELL? There's is around 4!!!

I have a feeling people never look at re-seller ratings.

I only look at reseller ratings if I'm buying from E-tailer only. Big companies like Dell, Walmart, Bestbuy, Compusa, etc all have very low reseller ratings. I don't pay attention to reseller ratings for these companies as it's useless IMO.

Why?

Because these are established large companies. I know they won't take my money and just run. If I have a problem I can get it resolved by going up their chain of command.
obviously you have never had a Best Buy manager screw you only to find yo have ZERO recourse because the "chain of command" doesn't care about you at all.

there is a reason for BestBuySux.org . . . they DO suck (almost as bad as Gateway)

I've heard those stories. I'm a Hot Deals junkie so I've heard it all. I still shop at Bestbuy. I still shop at CompUSSR. As long as they have good sale, I'll continue to shop at these stores. FYI, Bestbuy.com has always treated me well. I got $25 giftcard when cheap 24" TV was out of stock. Didn't even have to complain to get that. They just sent everyone who ordered and didn't receive the TV. Another was $299 6800GT deal they made good on. Those are my only two transaction with Bestbuy.com. So far they're batting 1.000 for me.

I'm fully aware of the Bestbuysux.org. If you don't like the store, vote with your wallet. I'm a Hot Deals junkie so I'm used to disappointments.
i do vote with my wallet . . . about the ONLY thing i use BB for is a Pricematch or the occasional game that gets there first (like Doom III; PMm'd to CC and finished in 10 days and SOLD)

i think you may just be lucky with Beast Buy . . . the .com seems better run than the B&M . . . and i am also glad you are aware of "true" BB horror stories.

BS Naustica "large established companies" are the worst cause they can afford to be worst. Fools continue to give thier money to them dispite thier overwhlemingly negative feedback. I don't know why. Perhaps they are insucre and feel safty in numbers...perhaps it's price..perhaps they don't know about smaller e-tailers.

Eitherway they are the worst also cause they are so big ...the employees have almost a governemnt employee mentality. IE we don't need you, you need us. And it shows with thier customer support and service. If newegg.com treated cumtomers like Dell they would be out of business in a week.

I just don't understand why customers hold mom and pop shops, like newegg and other e-tailers, to some higher standard and let places like dell skate.

I hear stories all the time about dell having people on hold for an hour (myself included).. would you ever order from the egg again if they did that to you? Double standard here is whats perplexing to me.,

Zebo, so I assume you buy everything from mom and pop shops and small stores. So no Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, BB, Dell, Target, etc.

My favorite online computer shops are Newegg and Dell. Dell has some great sales at least once near end of each quarter as they're trying to pad the revenue numbers for Wall Street. Dell also has one of the best return policy on the Net. Way better than Newegg and others.

No not always. But somehow I usually find myself buying at smaller shops because the CS is there. It has to be, they don't have "wall street" advertising budgets so they must woo customers the old fashioned way...you know Customer service..knowledgable employees...I've been burned on hold too many hours with dell, stood in too many lines at home depot, walmart hav'nt been in in years etc. The reseller ratings are accurate, and if I would have trusted them I'd saved some aggrevation from the get go. You obviously are buying strictly on price, proof is in Dells abismal 4 rating. Don't have nothing against that just ask be consistant with xyzcompstore.com..

Dell return? I guess taking a year, and about 4 phone calls, to credit my CC for a monitor return is good? Not good IMO.

I've been buying from them for years now without any problems: PC parts, software, audio/video cables, music CDs, DVDs.

The only thing you have to realize about them is that when they say "usually ships in 1 to 2 business days" they mean exactly that: usually not always.

If you want fast shipment, buy from newegg. If you need it tomorrow buy it locally. If you can (if necessary) wait up to a couple of weeks, use buy.com.

Companies have strengths and weaknesses, learn them and your frustration will disappear.
very true . . .

i just ordered from Buy.com yesterday .. . . a Viking 128MB CF card for $7.99 after $15 MIR (free shipping) . . . . i couldn't "dream" of that price at NewEgg . . . but IF i needed it THIS week, NewEgg would get my order . . .

however, i am willing to wait . . . they sent the 'confirmation' e-mail, provide "tracking" on their website . .. as long as i get it by the end of the month to qualify for their rebate, i'm ok

NOW, in YOUR case . . . it depends on how they RESOLVE your issue as to whether they are a good e-tailer - or not.

let us know what happens.
an update . . . . i ordered that $7.99 138MB Viking CF card on Tuesday night . . . i took the free (and slow) shipping even though i had a CHOICE to pay more and get it shipped out faster . ..

anyway, my log-in failed on Wed when i tried to access my acct, i e-mailed them and within 8 hours my password was reset . . .

checkin in this morning (fri) and i got an e-mail, 'it shipped' . . . should have it by Tues (a full week from order) . . .

not bad

Just got a shipping notice on my order from April. The one they tried to cancel this week. I'd really like to know how magicially it came into stock, and shipped to me only when I asked to cancel.

Lesson learned: Order then cancel the order to have Buy.Com ship it to you. If you simply order, it probably won't show up on time.

Now I get to deal with another return. Oh, and at a time the transaction will probably plunge my checking account below 0, due to some tight budgeting this month with home upgrades. *grr*

Good Call! I would try that next time if I bought from buy.com if they weren't on my list of stores not to order from. Is it also true that buy.com also have their CSR's outsourced to India?
