yep that's badass looking.
Doom was the first PC game I got in the early 90s, and it was definitely all about the,"over animated kill" as you call it. The gore was over the top on purpose in the game, so seeing that in this game puts it back in line with the original. I completely disagree that the finishing moves make it "undoom-like", and I believe they encompass the original Doom quite well.Save for the silly "Press [insert key bind] to perform cinematic melee kill" consolized nonsense.
I love the look and art direction, but ugh, every other shot is some over-animated melee kill to make the kiddies giggle and seems thoroughly out of place in DOOM.
Let`s be honest -- you have no clue.....No thanks. $60 for one of the slowest and least moddable single-player games I've ever seen which is supposed to be part of a fast-paced highly moddable franchise really doesn't sound appealing. But the real gem is the $120 Collectors Edition on offer consisting of the $60 version + a tacky $5 PVC toy + a $1 cardboard box... The rest is just the usual "don't make an informed decision by waiting for reviews. Instead get into the habit of supporting poor industry practises by making uninformed decisions in exchange for a couple of tacky bribes pre-order bonuses..."
Let's be honest, if it didn't have the "Doom" or "Id" labels stuck on to make it seem "iconic" for riding off the back of a 23 year old Golden Age franchise with completely different gameplay, and if it were made by an Indie studio but looked & played the same with its "slow generic designed-for-controller FPS with UAC & hell textures + Brutal-Doom inspired finishing moves as its sole gimmick" identity, it sure as hell (excuse the pun) wouldn't be selling for a comical $60-$120...

I'll buy it, eventually, but I'll definitely not pre-order it.
B-b-b-b-b-but no mods man! I can't make my own custom doo-dads and put them in the gamez!!
I truly believe that pre-ordering will die out. If we can all just band together we can eliminate this scourge on gaming. We can create a brighter future for our children and our children's children. A bright world where the shining pure spirits of humanity force back the thick dark choking cloud of evil permeating through every crevice of the gaming industry. We can unite as one to smite the evils of of our cherished pastime. We can prevail! We will prevail! We can evoke change so profound that the good that comes from it spreads throughout the world to eventually unite all of humanity in world peace! Who is with me?

If the single player campaign isn't at least 15-20 hours then no. 5 hour campaign shooters pffft.

again incase u dont understand...
NEVERPREORDER!
i have yet to play a AAA title game where its perfect day 1...
always wait for that first patch from either the dev's or your GFX card company.
On an industry level they are bad especially when combined with their evil twin (publishers who want game review sites to keep pushing positive hype-train stuff (including deceptive industry "bullshots") whilst simultaneously using review embargoes to try and hide the negatives until after the pre-order sale is complete). That's about as anti-consumer as you can get. There's a reason why the devs pushing both of this stuff together along with tackyWhat you do is up to you but every single thread about a game has the same people talking about how pre-orders are bad is just annoying.
There is not upside to preorders. I just don't get it.
If it was cheaper I'd consider it but there is not a reason to do it that makes sense.
