Honestly, I'm not overwhelmed by gsync but I understand different people have different things that they are susceptible to or notice. Frame tearing doesn't bother me and I get high frame rates in just about any game, so I could be just as happy without gsync/freesync. Low refresh rates aggravate the shit out of me, I can't play with 60Hz, I don't even like using the desktop on a 60Hz setting. If you notice tearing I can say full stop you owe it to yourself to get a gsync monitor, even though tearing doesn't bother me, I still noticed the visual fluidity improvement brought about by the tearing being gone. On the other hand, even if tearing doesn't bother you, you should really try out a 120/144/165Hz monitor even if it's one without some form of adaptive sync. If forced to choose either/or, I'll take 120Hz over resolution increases, adaptive sync, and color fidelity all day, any day.
Tearing definitely bothers me, but 60 FPS to me is buttery smooth. I can't even imagine Doom running any smoother than it already does at 60 FPS..
What also bothers me are bad Vsync implementations. That alone makes me want to go Gsync. The reason why I've been putting it off is because I also want to go 4K, but the hardware just isn't there yet to fully power 4K; at least not for single card setups. I'm done with SLI! D:
Hopefully big Pascal can power 4K properly, so that I can finally upgrade my monitor!
BTW, Carfax...What exact settings are you running? Because I have every single thing in game set to the maximum it allows but I think your screenshot looks better than mine. So I need to untick, lower, or disable something. Your shot looks more crisp or something.
I have everything set to maximum. The reason why my screenshots look crisper is likely because I have the sharpness maxed out. If you're using TSSAA 8x, it can blur the image slightly although it works great for getting rid of jaggies and temporal aliasing.. Boosting the sharpness can help counteract that effect however.
Also, make sure your gamma isn't too high either, and that film grain and CA are disabled..
*Edit* Oh, and I have rendering mode on default.
