I checked circuit city's website, there were 2 ads they had linked to (each with about 30 pages), I didn't see anything about doom 3 being on sale on either of them.

Both advertisement circulars listed currently on the website are not current for the sales week August 1st through August 7th. The circular beginning August 1st mentions the release of the software in question on page 16, in the lower left corner at the price mentioned in the title of this thread with a release date also mentioned in the title of this thread.

Could scan the appropriate section of that page, if deemed necessary but supposition would indicate it is not. Please feel free to request such should that supposition prove incorrect.

might be tough to pricematch to get it earlier, a lot of places have clauses saying that the item has to be in stock at the other store and whatnot.

Just a note. I don't think the Linux binaries are available yet, so it makes sense to wait a while if running this on Linux and hope for sub $40 by then.

I don't think there should be to much trouble pricematching with this one as the price is only $10 Lower.

Man, Ive been on vacation the past week and have missed a lot doom3 wise.

I always find this statement funny for as far as ANY retail store selling on the internet. Cannot price match with another on line company but yet THEY are selling on line as well. I had a fight once with compusa over a price at tigerdirect. Comp told me they wouldnt price match because tiger only sold online. NOT true trigerdirect has a store at thier warehouse in North Aurora IL. I used to got to all the time which makes them no different then bb, cc, comp, or any other retail store selling on line. So if your going to be a retail store that also sells on the internet you should also pricmatch same items sold on the internet as wll IMO.

One big complaint I've read about is the inability to hold a flashlight and shoot your gun at the same time. That sounds pretty lame to me but I still think it will be a good game.

well, it's somewhat realistic... I mean, can you run around w/ your rocket launcher and your flashlight too? You should be able to w/ a pistol though... shoudl be strong enough to fire a gun w/ one hand

u could if the flash light was built into your suit (ie Halo, Hl ) the space marines should've thought of that in their standard equipment.

haha... apparantly the new game F.E.A.R. solves that by limiting how much you can carry (3 - 4 guns)

Dumb question here (never took advantage of their policy) but shouldn't I be able to just take the Circuit City flyer into Best Buy, buy Doom 3 and then go directly from the cash register with receipt/flyer, over to the customer service desk and get the refund on the spot? That would bring my grand total (with NC tax) to $43.53. Not too shabby if they stand by this policy.

Also, can someone provide a link (if there is one) to where you got that Best Buy disclaimer? Thanks!

Umm, what's wrong with getting the game from BB and coming back later when circuit city sells it to pricematch it(besides two trips). And on another note, I just heard from a friend that alot of Best Buy's are selling it already. Is that true?

If Circuit City has it in stock the day you buy it at Best Buy (that would be Friday) then of course you get the discount right then at the customer service counter.

Yeah...

Here is a tip... Never install the software on a SUNDAY at 12AM... I almost spent 4 hours playing with it. Getting up at 7:30 was a major issue!

It's nice... But, sadly NOT as nice as far cry. I admit I am a farcry junkie, the waves on the beach and all the fun running around in the jungle is just a lot more eye candy then DOOM.

I dunno, I got a really nice bright LCD... And everything looked dark, I hate to try to play it in daytime. Tho, the candles (worship) and the dude on suspended from the ceiling with his guts hanging out is a nice eerie feeling!

You can tell this was designed for the kids in mind as you don't hear anyone running around saying I'm gonna kick your ass MOFO!!!

Other then that, the game is so dark (yes I cranked up the brightness)... You have to run around with a flashlight and the effects are pretty good. You can?t turn on a flashlight and hold a gun at the same time? Last thing I want to do is listen to a bunch of logs? It?s already boring enough? Ouch, did I just say that? I dunno, something about the game... Almost like you are in one of those hay mazes just trying to find your way out. Not much a plot line. No one really says anything except hurry up. Or if you try to talk to anyone they are all just busy. I'll have more time to play it next week. Hoping it gets better...

I can tell you this, I hear of alot of people having all kinds of problems. If you system isn't at least 1 Gig of ram, 3Ghz, and the latest x800 pro/6800GT vid card your gonna be sadly lagging as this will tax your hardware.

My recomendation = "BUY"
