Just installed it last night, it runs pretty decent at 1024-768 noAA/8xAS on a p4 3.0 with a 9700 pro. Decent meaning 30-60 fps with an average of around 45. I'm pretty picky about smoothness, and its totally playable, although inn action heavy scenes it does slow down a tad.
As for the actual game, I must say I'm a tad dissapointed graphics wise. The atmosphere and the sound are incredible; you need to use headphones/4.1+ setup to know where these monsters are coming from. Using headphones, I could actually anticipate and kill a demon imp as he crawled around on the cieling before dropping on me. Otherwise, the game is incredibly scary, both scripted moments, and just wandering around in the dark.
My problem with the graphics is just general level of detail. I expected magnificance, but some things are just average, such as how a soda can is nothing more than an octogonal cylinder, and how punching it results in some weird physics. But my main gripe is with the textures. Im using HQ right now, with all the options on. From far away, the textures look great, especially with the volumetric lightning and the use of environmental bump mapping. However, walking up close to something, such as a door reveals a rather pixelized texture. I kind of expected more, especially since texture compression was used extensively. I do have to admit though, using the flashlight is really fun.
Otherwise, the game is incredible. The suspense gets to me, and I have to take short breaks .
