I think I have an unopened Starcraft here somewhere I could take back to knock $9.99 and tax off. (thought I'd lost my copy but found it)

So, if it ends up $55 on day of release, what.....$40 and tax? I think I can handle that.

Is it just me or have PC games come down in price anyway? Thay all used to be $40s and $50s at release.

Good luck. I repped for Activision last X-mas, when they began rolling out the Doom3 preorders. The buzz from the higher-ups was that Doom3 was going to be a "premium" title, and the MSRP would be at $59 out the door. If you're going to see any deals, it'll be for $49, not $39.

Even if retailers are not allowed to price Doom3 below a certain level, I'm sure they will get around it with non-cash offers. Perhaps get some kind of freebie with purchase, etc.

yes, or wait for a NIB 1 on ebay for $20 cheaper.

...and worst buy has sometimes had new release games for $34 that usually sell for $50 after the first week or so, which will not be the case here.
