Just as a generic response and not meant to derail the thread but...

What happens when Politicians receive political donations by large firms?
What happens when the mainstream media receive access to politicians and scoops on stories?
What happens when big media outlets receive advertisement dollars from large firms?

To claim that NVIDIA are the only ones who participate in this is disingenuous. At the same time, to claim that it has no effect on outcomes is also wishful thinking.

Anyhow. Carry on!
well the gamergate was exactly that on a smaller scale and with a different payment method
who ever thinks that giving presents away wont buy influence is delusional (just look what happened with the panama leaks today(well considering that those leaks happened 2 years ago and only now we get to see them is well...)

The things that should've been gamergate but weren't like the Kane & Lynch thing are frankly much better examples that haven't been tarred with association to a ludicrous farce of a movement. It's just not enough to get gamers really riled up unless they can work some prejudice into it, I guess.

Can you guys just shut the hell up with all the off topic "shill site/reviewers bought and paid for by NVidia" bullcrap? You lot are worse than bipartisan talking heads.

As for the ACTUAL TOPIC THE THREAD WAS STARTED ABOUT:

I have an i7 4720hq, GTX970M 3gb, 22gb ram and SATA III SSD. Running the game at 1080p with Chromatic Aberration and motion blur off (I hate both effects) I was getting a low of between 45-50fps and max of 60. Most of the time it was pegged at 60. I have GSync on my laptop though, so it always felt buttery smooth during the frame drops.

Game ran great, looked great and played great, I can't WAIT for retail!

This is the only game I'm excited about right now. I pre-ordered it a few months ago. Friday May 13th isn't that far away!

As for the multiplayer, I'm not going in with the expectations it'll be anything like Quake 3 Arena (best multiplayer FPS ever IMO, still is) as the pace is clearly geared towards consoles and someone holding a controller. However hopefully Bethesda lets the mod community take care of that and make it cater more to a PC audience.

I would also like to hear feedback from anyone who's played the multiplayer extensively. I don't care if it's like Quake, I just want to know if it's fun to play?

Why are all the frame rates capped at 60 ? Does this game have one of those hard 60fps locks ? If so, no buy!

Can you talk about the multiplayer more ?? pros and cons ?? Any resemblance to Quake Arena ??

It reminded me a lot of Quake 3, but not quite as fast paced. Can only carry two weapons and a throwable, and can't pick up weapons or ammo, only armor from dead people. You can double-jump and mantle up ledges, and you're pretty vulnerable while doing the latter. You gain experience and levels, which unlock "Hackmods", guns and armor pieces to customize your avatar. The "Hackmods" are powerups that do things like give more ammo on spawn/respawn, allow you to see when pickups will respawn, track the player who killed you and others.

I'm no MP expert and in general I don't even like MP, but this one is fun. I'm reminded of how much fun I used to have playing Unreal Tournament.

as the pace is clearly geared towards consoles and someone holding a controller.

It's really not. If you think that, and try to play the PC version with a X1 pad, you'll get destroyed. It's very clearly designed, at least the MP, with kb/m in mind.

Am buying.

What about SLI though?

The engine seems to be somewhat similar to idtech 5(the advanced options include the same VT options that rage and wolfenstein did), so SLI might not scale very well.

Thanks. I guess all the video footage I've seen so far looks to be handled by a controller which lead me to believe that.

This is very encouraging, thanks for responding. Some of the hackmods seems new to me but I don't play a lot of other FPS games besides BF4.

If the framerate drops below the cap does it still behave normally? Or does aim get borked like in titanfall?

If this is anything like every other ID engine made, as your frame rates lower, you actually runs lower, have shorter jumps, etc. As the physics are FPS based. This was especially apparent in Quake 3, where some jumps could only be made at 120fps.

That's true about quake 3, but it was really a minor difference. For the most part the game played exactly the same, iirc. Nothing like dark souls, for example. Plus they have a lot of new people working on the engine(tiago souza, who was the lead engine programmer at crytek, for example, and richard duffy has taken john carmack's place as technical director), so we don't really know if they made the same decisions.

Under 125 fps = Could not jump up ledges /plasma-climb etc etc

125 fps = everything worked as intended

333 fps = you could move/jump faster/longer

500 fps = Could run around without making sound (as if +walk cmd)

Fps also affected the netcode, updated faster with higher fps ("polling rate")

I played quake3 for ~14 years

Ok, I'll yield to your experience. I did play quake live for a few years, but I never tried those framerates nor heard anything about them.
