I'm not sure if it's the same problem, but DOTA2 actually occasionally freezes my PC, such that I need to do a hard reboot. Generally my gaming PC has been 100% stable otherwise, but it seems to lock up like that in DOTA 2 about once every couple dozen games. and nothing else. I even bitcoin mine, stressing the GPU to the max for days at a time and it remains perfectly stable, but somehow DOTA2 causes it to freeze.

Odd thing is it almost never happens in a game, but usually at the end when the scoreboard comes up or if I leave the game running in the menus.

Even still, it doesn't happen that often.

My gameplay is perfect, no slowdowns, locks or anything.... just that CPU and GPU work at 100% and temps go very high.
But, I don't play that long, 2 or 3 games and exit.

Interesting. Does it happen when you Alt-tab? I had to switch to windowed borderless-mode because the game would crash 9 out of 10 times I tried to Alt-tab. Haven't had any issues since.

Actually did some research into the problem last night. Apparently the lock ups were caused by the CPU overheating, for some reason DOTA2 would run all 8 cores at 100% and I really couldn't say why. I noticed the CPU reaching 67C, which apparently is over spec for a FX-8120, and at some point beyond that was causing the OS to freeze. I manually under-clocked the CPU slightly and now it never goes above 45C, and hasn't locked up again yet. Of course it wasn't occurring often enough that I can be sure it is fixed, but if the CPU temperature and the lock ups are related then it should be fixed.

The odd thing is when I alt-tab out the game uses less CPU and temperature starts to drop, something with the windowed full-screen mode causes it to peg the CPU at 100% usage on all cores while other modes don't seem to do the same.

Agreed. US is full of raging 16-18 year olds either spamming mic or talking shit.

Had 2 of those last night that caused games that were going well to be lost.

It should show up as an invite to you, look for the little green envelope icon in the top right of the screen.
Click it and you should be taken to a page where you can redeem the gift.

Create a lobby and edit the configuration with a PW and check the box to fill empty slots with bots. I play tons of practice games with bots to get the hang of things.

Thanks for the feedback, playing borderless window and underclocking the CPU (I set it to 70% of normal speed) did the trick.
CPU tops around 55ºC and GPU still hot, but like 10ºC lower than before.

And yes, game performance is as flawless as it was before.

As if you never feed? It happens to everyone, including the best players. No one can avoid feeding in this game, at some point it will be you dragging down the team. Its just the nature of this game

I just ride it out. When it becomes obvious you are going to lose. Experiment.

This, also make sure that you report them if intentional.

I wouldn't lane as Axe. The jungle is where he belongs and until you get good at pulling, stacking, and knowing which creeps you can easily defeat, I'd stick to not jungling.

Also, a 40 minute game isn't considered long in Dota. That is about average length. Those 80 minute games where one team turtles and refuses to lose are the long ones.

Games usually take longer at low skill levels actually, if you know how to pubstomp or play in higher skill levels most games don't go to more than 40 minutes that often.

As you can see if you can pubstomp, most games take around 30 mins to finish. I could have actually ended these games sooner, but I like fountain diving and a few were lengthened by trolls/ game crashing on me. These were all solo queue btw.

Also you can try playing with friends who are good, that will probably shorten the match also.

unlike LOL, there is the hard carrys

Faceless Void is the perfect example, he will carry late game, and kill enemy entire team ALONE, killing him will just delay him...it's just a matter of time

Outworld Devourer is another example, once he reach lvl 25 he can one-shot an entire team with his ultimate

but, noobs don't really know that, and would surrender without theyr FV/OD have a chance

Then everyone would surrender the moment they got behind. I stopped playing LoL after a few games because of the stupid surrender function.

I have won dozens of games where we were majorly behind and then turned it around and came back.
