i've had leavers in 50% of my games so far (3 out of 6).
so what mechanism is in place to prevent habitual leavers from even joining?
the record is one thing, but will there be something in place to enforce it?
and are valve and steam closer partners?
i thought steam was just a distribution channel.
My understanding is that players with leaves are matched up with players with similar % of leaves. As a new player the matchmaking isn't really working yet, but I assume that after 100 games or so you probably won't see leavers very often at all unless you are a leaver yourself.
Also, I guess my point wasn't that leavers don't exist, just that they aren't a big deal. In those 3 games with leavers, how many of them did the guy leave in the first 5 minutes? In LoL an early game leaver like that is incredibly annoying, because you can't even surrender until 20 minutes in, so you are forced to play at a disadvantage from the start, and even if you do surrender at 20 you still got a loss. It's really a terrible system.
In DOTA2 leaves were never that annoying for me because I could just hop out of that game and find a new one, without suffering an extra loss on my record. Early leave was comparable to a LoL queue dodge- minor waste of time but not really a big deal, while a late leave was more annoying it was still not as bad as LoL because of the way the loss would be forgiven.
