lol this thread is funny, it's just 25 people asking for invites and not a single person has actually gotten an email.

I got an invite from a friend, which doesn't give me any extra passes to hand out sadly.

Played one game last night and did pretty terrible as skeleton king- it's going to take me a lot of games just to get used to the difference between this and LoL.

Damn I'm jealous lol, SK was one of my favorites from DOTA. How is the matchmaking system in it? Do they have something like LoL where you reconnect to the same game if you leave?

You can reconnect, seen others do it, but I didn't get disconnected in the one game I played so I don't know exactly how it works.

Not sure how the whole matchmaking system works, but when you start you can pick beginner, intermediate, or pro as your skill level and it will try to match you with similar players. Also if you pick beginner it limits you to games with the simplest of heroes, apparently keeps the complex mechanics and skill-shot intensive champions out of the game. I picked intermediate.

The most notable thing so far is the awesome observer mode. It seems you can watch any currently running game, see fog of war from either side's point of view, enter and leave observed games at will. Some games had 30 or more observers, I don't think there is a set limit. You see the game with a 3 minute delay, to prevent cheating.

Impressive to me at least is that the engine functions fine (on low settings) on my dm1z netbook, which only has a 1.6ghz E-350 CPU. It's not running at 60 fps, but it's fine for watching games and looks like it would be mostly playable, looked like 20-40 fps depending on action.

Yah, I've been watching people play this on Own3d off and on for the past month now. It really has impressed me.

Yeah, I would definitely say the transition from DotA to LoL is a lot kinder than the transition from LoL to DotA.

If you put in the time, I'm sure you'll love it as much as us DotA fanboys.

Got an invite like 5 days ago. Played some so far and it is pretty good. I like how they made things more convenient with the shop and such. Sold both my beta invites on the Steam forums. Got Two Worlds 2 + Expansion for one (during the holiday sale) and a bunch of other games for the other

got the invite today, first game the server crashed. I like the look, I don't really know the heroes, but I played HoN and Mirana is exactly like Valkyrie, so I'll just stick with Mirana until I know how all the other heroes are.

Gameplay feels stiff, like it's not responsible for my taste, but I'm sure that'll get fixed otherwise I like the game.

Gameplay felt so boring compared to LoL. If you think LoL is slow paced, this is 100x worse.

The heroes in HoN were ripped directly from DOTA I think, I'm not sure what they've added since it came out but when I first tried HoN the heroes were exactly the same pretty much.

HoN kept adding dota heroes after release until Valve announced Dota 2. The last dota port was Dwarven Sniper (Flint in HoN). Ever since then they've been adding unique heroes, though some of them are still 'inspired' by dota heroes.

They wanna differentiate themselves from Dota in order to survive the launch of Dota 2, and if you join HoN now, you wouldn't know half the heroes. Some of the HoN originals are pretty amazing actually (Pandamonium, Maliken, Puppet Master, Rhapsody, Monkey King, etc...)

if anybody wants an invite, pm me! I gave my other invite to a friend, and I don't want the last one to go to waste.

Gone!

What a load of garbage. LoL is widely recognized as more casual than DotA e.g. denies. To introduce more complexity than LoL and claim not only more boring or slow paced, but 100x worse is laughable.

You are entitled to your opinion but you are terribly wrong.

Received my invite on Thanksgiving and gave out all my invites to my brothers already. They also signed up for the beta and if by chance they receive their own invites, I'll gladly hand them out here since I received my hon beta invite from this forum.

Overall, feels much like DOTA, which is a good thing. My biggest complaint is the attack animations/attack particles. They are just so boring compared to Dota. Most of the range heroes who doesn't have an arrow throws a similar particle, just different color. In DOTA, Lina threw a rock (at some point in the various versions), Vengeful Spirit throw a mini version of herself, and Morph's attack was actually water. DOTA 2 particles are just balls of energy. Pretty lame IMO.

There are various bugs still. Game crashes on alt+tab (at least for me and my brothers). Random lockups during joining/leaving lobby.

Game is the best attempt at DOTA I have seen so far.

I actually don't mind playing it. My only issue are the numerous bugs (game crashing, loud sound, etc).

I got an invite from my brother's friend for this and damn it's just awesome. I played dota like crazy for a long time and this is a pretty damn good remake of it imo. Only complaint so far is the lack of characters but I'm sure that's just because it's in beta.

So far I haven't had any bugs, been running pretty nicely for me.
