Lets boycott Indiana but lets keep doing business with Saudi Arabia.

Other companies looking to boycott Indiana include Smallbox, Salesforce, and Angie’s List; particularly, they want to disassociate from businesses headquartered in Indiana.

Yet all of these companies work with businesses with outlets in places like Saudi Arabia, where homosexuality is punishable by death.

Why the double standard? Is the left afraid to demand equal rights from Saudi Arabia and other nations that are unfriendly to gays?

When are we going to see boycotts of Exxon?

Today, ExxonMobil is one of the largest foreign investors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

When is the left going to boycott products made in Malaysia?

When is the left going to end the double standard and demand equal rights from nations just as they demand equal rights from states?

What are you saying here, that Americans should dictate what other countries should do? I suppose you'd be fine with other countries dictating what we should do as well?

He is a welder. What do you want from him exactly? Enlightenment?

I'd settle for an occasional reminder that there's more than one functioning brain cell in that vacuous brain pan of his that the BB will randomly strike and create a cohesive thought.

Big time outrage about the LEFT(!) boycotting X and not boycotting Y.

Coming from a righty.

Here's my question, righty:

When is the right in Indiana and Saudi Arabia going to grow up and stop discriminating?

Why does the left constantly have to push the right in the correct direction?

Doing repetition every day all day takes a certain kind of brain. A brain best suited for humdrum not insight.

ExxonMobil is headquartered in Texas, not Saudi Arabia.

Very little that the United States does in the Middle East makes sense from a moral (or even legal) standpoint. We invaded an autonomous country that posed no threat the US, for God's sake.

Israel, Iran and the Shah, the Saudis. The United States is up to its eyeballs in the blood of people from that region.

welcome back toothless, you do pose the most interesting questions

Why are you suddenly worried about what rights your gay neighbor may or may not have? Oh, that's right, you're not.

This is just the news item of the week. Next week nobody will care anymore because not a single business in Indiana will have oppressed the gays from their workplace. Just have to wait the outrage out. It will pass just like 90+% of other recent outrages.

And all along I've been under the impression that the U.S. NEVER maintains diplomatic and trade relations with any country that isn't a democracy with elected officials, competing political parties, a free press, the rule of law, and individual liberties protected by an independent judiciary.

Thanks, TH, for making the startling revelation that America engages with really bad countries.

I just saw Connecticut banned travel to Indiana. These leftwits won't ban Ebola travel but they'll ban travel to a state because of a law that they themselves also have - like CT:

Connecticut General Statutes section 52-571b
(current as of 2001)

Sec. 52-571b. Action or defense authorized when state or political subdivision burdens a person's exercise of religion.

(a) The state or any political subdivision of the state shall not burden a person's exercise of religion under section 3 of article first of the constitution of the state even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability, except as provided in subsection (b) of this section.

(b) The state or any political subdivision of the state may burden a person's exercise of religion only if it demonstrates that application of the burden to the person (1) is in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest, and (2) is the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest.

(c) A person whose exercise of religion has been burdened in violation of the provisions of this section may assert that violation as a claim or defense in a judicial proceeding and obtain appropriate relief against the state or any political subdivision of the state.

(d) Nothing in this section shall be construed to authorize the state or any political subdivision of the state to burden any religious belief.

(e) Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect, interpret or in any way address that portion of article seventh of the constitution of the state that prohibits any law giving a preference to any religious society or denomination in the state. The granting of government funding, benefits or exemptions, to the extent permissible under the constitution of the state, shall not constitute a violation of this section. As used in this subsection, the term "granting" does not include the denial of government funding, benefits or exemptions.

(f) For the purposes of this section, "state or any political subdivision of the state" includes any agency, board, commission, department, officer or employee of the state or any political subdivision of the state, and "demonstrates" means meets the burdens of going forward with the evidence and of persuasion.
