Wow. So how does this kind of auction work? Do I have to be present or can I phone in bids on different lots?
There's alot of stuff there I'd really love to get my grubby mits on....

From what I have heard, Dove Bid is an extremely shady company. The fees you are charged ruin many hot deals. This thread has info about it.Text I have never ordered from them, so I am not sure if all this is true.

MyBuds - have you actually bought anything from them? i did, went in person to a louisville liquidiation auction of Darwin Networks (which i learned about right here on Hot Deals!), got $45,000 worth of office equiptment for $3000. Yes there was shipping, yes there was an auction fee, but i knew this and included it in my bidding plans, and got excellent stuff cheap.

i bought 3com webcams from california with a webcast auction online($75 each), sold em $150 on Eb@y (only got 5, wish i got all 20!)

yes, read the fine print, yes do your homework so you know what your "bid" is actually going to cost - and if you pay more for something than retail - i'm sorry, you are just plain hopeless.

you can get some great deals at Dovebid, doesn't mean you will, and doesn't mean every item will go dirt cheap...but some will....

I remember hearing some bad stuff about them too. Just beware before you buy. BTW, I thought auctions were not allowed in Hot Deals

I don't think you can compare being in person to taking part online. There are many differences - most of all, being able to see the physical condition of the items before you bid. I remember when they were going to auction off a big dot-com - I waited and waited to see that auction come up - but the descriptions online were sooo poor, it wasn't worth bidding on anything.

It's always a good idea to attract as many people as possible to an auction to ensure that bids go extremely high. That will get you an even better deal! How about you take out an ad for these guys in USA Today? Maybe if we get enough to come, we can all pay double what the stuff is worth. A HOT DEAL!!!

geez, what a bunch of whiners!

i got a great tip here a year ago about a dovebid auction and got some outrageous deals ("like new" stuff for 1/10 retail). nobody ripped me off, i knew all the "fees" upfront, and my only complaint was i didn't bid on somemore stuff that went for almost nothing. yes, some stuff that i wanted went for way more than i thought they were worth, but thats ok because i didn't bid that high.

if you expect everything at auction to go for pennies - you're not to smart
if you don't think somebody is going to get a great deal at this auction - your also not to smart

some people in this forum rant about how crappy Eb@y is (or FS/FT), and how much stuff costs (well don't bid that much! duh)
some people post about what a great deal they got on Eb@y.

yes. either is possible depending entirely on what you make of it.

I'm sorry...didnt mean to speak without experience. I just remember reading that old thread that was very negative about dovebid. im sure it is possible to get a good deal if you factor in all the fees and bid accordingly.
