Yep. My wife and I max both of our 403b's, 457b's (for now), backdoor Roths, and then some cash savings, and I put a little in my personal brokerage account that I play with and I still don't feel like we save enough. I don't wanna work forever (or perhaps more accurately I want the freedom to do what I want when I want).
This thing is, if you can, don't wait too long. Health issues suck. Golden years MA.

When I try to fathom what lifestyle I can have with respect to my finances there's the shadowy unknown being unforseen expenses that arise when you're old. That would vary a lot. Some people go fast, others require assisted living and who knows what kind of expenses? How do you plan for those things? Obviously, unless things improve in the USA healthcare scene it's hold onto the gunnels and hope your boat doesn't take on water! Then there are considerations like moving to where your money goes further. I live where things are very expensive right now. Got my first Uber ride the other day and my driver was born in Columbia, has lived in the USA since 1963, mostly in New York, San Deigo now. In a couple years he'll move back to Columbia where he has a house and his $$$ will go a lot further.

Absolutely true. My wife and I still make sure to vacation at least two to three weeks a year (usually one international, and a few domestic trips) which is important to us. My father was a huge retirement saver and unfortunately passed away at 65 after being quite sick for about 18 months. Now my mother has been left with quite significant retirement savings (at her normal rate of spending she'll never spend it all) and does not have my father with whom to spend her retirement. A somber reminder not to delay too long for sure.

Sold off a bunch of my AAPL this morning above $300. It's within 10% of the all time high and I want to replenish my cash reserves in this volatile environment.

Smart play. I'm doing the same and trading around my core. Selling the rips and buying the dips.

What's your thoughts on TSLA? (I know you are a big bull LT.)

Almost bought some instead of AAPL on Friday when it was @630, but I still don't have a good enough feel on that one. The AAPL was just easy money @260, although I know TSLA will swing higher (and lower.)

Still have that limit order down in the upper 500s, almost moved it up, but didn't want to chase just to use up more of my cash after going in on AAPL.

Thinking moving it up now and and adding to it, hopefully around 650 if I can catch a freak out

I'm just holding my core TSLA at the moment. I think because of the coronavirus fears, TSLA could hit low $500 to high $400 in the worst case. But I also think TSLA could hit $1,800 this year in best case. Maybe during the buying frenzy when TSLA is added to S&P 500 index later this year. I think mid $600s for TSLA is great buy. I bought some more at $643 on Friday for my longterm account after selling Merck position I've held for 16 years.

I'm cautious about TSLA Q1 because of car business seasonality. Wall Street and the public can be pretty stupid so they might again think TSLA has lack of demand problem when it's just seasonal weakness. So I'm just bidding my time waiting for stupid selloff while holding my core position with iron hands. I will not sell my core position of TSLA no matter what. So I'm just sitting on my hands with TSLA and will layer in the buys from the mid $600 to low $500 if it gets there.

People are scared and irrational. Also, people don't trust what the government is telling them. Maximum uncertainty is the worse thing for markets.

It doesn't help when the Fed's cut the rate 3 times this past year, all while Trump was telling people the Market and economy are doing great. Now that the market is crashing, and they are cutting rates add's not only mistrust, but confusion because their actions are exactly what they where doing when the Market and economy was supposedly doing great.

You got doofus in chief telling people to go to work with corona "flu". Of course they don't trust the government.

"Return to 'normal'" was yesterday

Nice job Trump 👍

I'm not touching my core stuff, I'm just letting it sit and ride it out.

I rebuilt my cash position after a few quick in/out trades.
I'll be waiting if some other good opportunities pop up, but who knows what will happen.
