Ah, you must live in a small town or something? Was going to say, just throw the other rig up on craigslist/kijiji and it will be gone within a week at a fair price (at least here in Vancouver).

Kijiji? Well I've never tried it before, but I'm not really comfortable for meeting up with people since I'm only 14 years old.

Just keep the Phenom, its a better chip and getting 550 for those C2Q parts is ridiculous.

If you are getting the same money, what is the point of going from a newer chip at 4.0 to an older chip at if you are very lucky, 3.6?

Funny story actually. One of my friend's friends basically just told me "I'll give you $550 for a quad core PC" so I accepted. I had a spare Q6600 lying around so I figured why not?

But how would the Core 2 Quad Q6600 (3.3-3.4 ghz) do against a Phenom II (4.0ghz), because the person does play some CPU intensive games (BF3, etc). Would an oc'ed Q6600 cut it?

For most games I could imagine, you would get more gains from a better video card than you would from that kind of a CPU change. When you go to Sandy Bridge on the other hand.....

Another warning here about using the IP35-E for OC'ing, especially 4-core chips. They degrade over time. Was a killer board when it first came out but you're going to see a lot of dead ones these days. Including my old one.

I doubt video card will be a problem. He's using a GTX 295 or a 4890 (I forget) for a 1280x1024 resolution
As for me, I'm sticking with my Phenom II setup since I'm a light gamer. I'll probably upgrade to ivy bridge or piledriver later.

That was something I was told quite a lot right after I got the board. It's the only board I have that I can OC a 775 chip with. I guess he'll just have to stick with it. By degrade, do you mean the OC'ing ability will degrade or the entire board itself will just die?

Mine has definitely degraded over time, but it's still going after crunching DC 24/7 for 4 years. And my ip35 pro is the one that died on me, go figure.

phenom II @ 4.0 ghz is definitely better, though they'll be pretty close overall. Maybe 5-10% difference depending on the situation.

Games. No video editing, etc. Because the person I'm selling he C2Q to plays games like BF3, Crysis2 and every other game out there. At 1280x1024. He has a gtx 295 so no worries for him.

What part of the mobo is degrading/dieing?

It's usually capacitors.

My Q6600 (B3) did 3.4 with 1.45v for years folding with a 975 chipset (a P5WDH bought before Conroe release.) Still works fine. I just don't fold anymore. It's running 4870 crossfire at 3.0 now.

It's a shame. My G0 Q6600 does 3.4 at 1.45 volts. I can't seem to get any more out of it.
