This is really urgent. I'm missing a _TON_ of drivers that I can't find for my HP Pavilion dv9700. It originally had Vista and now my company has to use XP for other reasons. I can't find these drivers:

Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
Coprocessor
Ethernet Controller
HP Integrated Module
Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus
SM Bus Controller
OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller

Thanks Anandtech community.

I've done that whole "Google is your friend" thing, Intexity- A lot of the hyperlinks and mirrors are either broke or don't exist anymore. Thanks though.

And now you have found the problem of running a "home" line laptop in a corporate environment.

I would do some research and see if they have a twin model in the probook line and try the drivers from there.

@Gunbuster: not that I'm aware of I even spoke with HP.

@bruceb: if I didn't have to pay for a membership to download those drivers that would've been the best alternative.

Thanks guys, please help me this is owning my brain. I checked forum posts, I checked blogs, nothing. I would really appreciate it if someone could in fact help me. I'd even PayPal $ to the person who helps me.

What version of XP did you load? I think SP3 has some extra drivers. Also have you tried windows update?

@Gunbuster: yes, I'm reinstalling XP SP3 for a second try. I did Windows Update as well but since I'm reformatting maybe some luck will come my way.

If you can't find XP drivers, you might also consider installing Win7 Professional or higher. the "XP Mode" may solve whatever Vista issue you within your company and the drivers that worked with Vista should mostly work with Win7. The latest version of the Win7 "XP Mode" software works with any CPU, with no need for special virtualization-capable processors.

@RebateMonger: We don't have Windows 7. All of our machines have XP SP3, the managerial individuals here don't want to switch platforms. The thing that pisses me off is the network administrator before me actually found all the drivers and I've only found some.

@Raduque: You seem to be misinformed. It's not "my company", and it probably makes sense that this company doesn't want to spend a multitudinous amount of money on a plethora of Windows licenses.

Did you not, in your OP, state "My company"? I'm just saying, it's time for them to drop that ancient garbage OS and join the rest of us in 2010 and use a Modern OS. It's really rather nice here.

Only driver issue I'm having is my sound. Any help?

I've installed:
Conexant High Definition Audio Driver
Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp33867)
HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP
Conexant SmartAudio 221

I'm just gonna run a cracked version of Driver Magician and hopefully it will give me some insight.

@Tsavo: Against forum policy?

More likely than not that a cracked version of anything is going to be carrying some malware in its baggage...just about the LAST thing you want to load onto a business PC.

"Your company needs to step into the 21st century. "

In this economy? Really? No. The answer lies in the fact that he bought a hp standard user laptop and trying to use it in the corp environment.

There are several things you could try, but if you are having driver issues post install of xp and updating to the latest updates, chances are, you probably wont find the right driver at all.

If hp cant supply you with the correct drivers for the notebook they built, and support, then you are probably not going to find what you need.

Good luck...

Step 1: Reinstall Vista.
Step 2: Sell the damned thing.
Step 3: Get a Dell.

This. I can't imagine someone would use an HP in a corporate environment. Dell tends to be a bit better when it comes to finding drivers and has good support. I'm pretty sure you can even buy with XP.

There is no reason for a corporation to spend thousands, if millions of dollars just to upgrade to Win7. It's not just upgrading the OS, but upgrading the PCs too, then dealing with tons of user training issues, and 3rd party app issues etc.... just not feasible.
