I doubt that'd be possible. Apple (and the contract Wal-mart would have to sign) wouldn't allow them to sell it for much less than what Apple sells it for. That's why you'll never be able to buy any (new) Apple product that's more than a few dollars less than what Apple sells the same item for, unless that item's been discontinued, used, refurbished, etc.

It's the way Apple works.

This is old news. I would never buy music from walmart though because they censor ALL their songs, and do not sell parental advisory CD's! Plus there are other sites out there that sell the same thing unedited.

THANK YOU for the info. I doubt I'd have downloaded from there anyways, but I know a few who would, and will let them know to either skip it or at least take a long hard look at it first.

WARNING: If you buy DRM WMA files, make sure you will not change computers more than twice in your lifetime. Once you backup and restore the files to two computers, your digital rights will prevent you from any further backing up and so you cannot ever change computers again and still have access to your music!!!

I know the rules quite well and if a deal is not hot, you can let other people know without it being thread crapping. I've been on this forum for years and that is how it has always been. Walmart is censoring their CDs without telling you, and thus it needs to be noted somewhere so unsuspecting people who think they are saving $0.10 are going to get a horribly done hack job at censoring the music. For petes sake, they censor the word 'cocaine' and it comes out completely messed up. Furthermore, Walmart is evil, and you are not saving money from shopping there, as you can see with how much money you will lose by having the buy the album again to get a uncensored version. If their going to censor your music without telling you, they could at least make it sound decent.

At least Itunes music give you freedom to move around and burn unlimited time as if you own the songs. This Walmart thingy just more like restricted rental of the songs.

This is a hot deal. It seems obvious to me thaat people are thread crapping this deal for personal reasons. So far here is what seems like the arguments against this being a hot deal:

1- Wal-Mart is an evil soulless corporation that exploits people.
I don't see what this has to do with whether the deal is hot or not. You think Apple is some kind of charity? Where do you think your iPod is assembled?

2- WMA9 uses DRM and isn't an open format.
Apple's AAC uses DRM that is nearly identical to the WMA9 requirements, right down to only letting you copy your music to only two other computers. And I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a major online store to release songs in MP3. Let's see, AAC can be played on how many players? WMA9 currently is supported by tons of players (supposedly including even the iPod), and support will be even more pervasive in the coming months.

3- The songs are censored.
This is a valid point. It is definitely something you should be aware of before you buy. However, while it may be a bug to some people, it's a definite feature to others. Wal-Mart doesn't put out "clean" albums because they hate their customers, or they hate musicians, they do it because their customers ask for it. If you're a parent, and you want to buy your kid some music, you don't have to listen to the entire album to find out if it's okay for your kids or not. Which is good, because most kids listen to crap, and you can't return it anyway.

In my view, 10% off and playable on way more music players, even with the (possible) caveat of "clean" songs does qualify as a hot deal.
