Downloaded Opera 6.0 (for Linux). Looks pretty sweet . . .

Just grabbed Opera in my never-ending quest to find a good web browser for Linux. I have to say that they've gotten 6.0 pretty darned refined. It's still not quite as good as IE but I'd say it's better than all the others I've tried. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go ahead and order the full version (that banner add is annoying and they have done a good job on this. besides I get it for $20 b/c of the student discount).

If you haven't tried it yet and don't like Konq or Mozilla/Galeon, then try it out.

Students (and senior citizens) get it for $20.

Galeon: It's alright (like a faster Mozilla since they're based of the same rendering engine), but I've had LOTS of problems getting it to run on my system. I've tried pre-built packages and compiling myself. It took a long time for me to get the compiled version going (couldn't find lots of .h files that were in $PREFIX/include so I had to move those to a more standard location like /usr/include), but I had same results with all of it: Galeon runs fine for root user but not any other user (I just get a white screen in the window).

You need to right click with your mouse and click on show menu then when the menu comes up click on settings>> preferences and config it to the way you like it.

P.S. Tried Opera 6 it's good but for some reason it has problems with Sun's jre 1.3.1 and loading JAVA applets plus I always get this annoying JAVA console. I'll stick with galeon untill they implament JAVA for the Linux version a bit better then they have it as of right now.

Galeon has always been a breeze to install for me... just get the version lined up with the mozilla version that is installed on your system

Have to agree there! I just installed Mandrake 8.1 and was very amazed with the default Gnome browsier!
