Downloading Knoppix...

I'm looking in the knoppix directory on an FTP site and there is a bunch of files, what files do I need? Obviously I need an ISO but which one? There are a whole bunch of text files and these files below.
Which should I download and burn to a CD?

lol, dude I know that EN is the english version. But what about the .md5 and .md5.asc files?

The .md5 files contain the md5sums for the isos. The .asc I don't know about, but I'd be able to figure it out if I cared. Possibly a signature.

The asc is a GPG signature to verify the md5 hasn't been tampered with.

I wouldn't bother. Use the md5 file to check the iso and make sure it downloaded properly.

I doubt if there is room. I burned the Knoppix CD and it filled the entire 700MB, with Nero warning me that the disk would have to be finalized.

This is a great program. It is a nice way to get a quick test of new computer builds. It is also a nice way to continue using your computer if your operating system gets trashed.

You don't "put" the ISO onto a cd, your burning program transfers the image
as a raw copy to create the Knoppix CD. There is no way to add the md5 files
(without using other tools). And there is no need to... the md5 is there for
you to make sure the ISO image has not been tampered with before burning it
to media.

Knoppix is some good stuff. I just downloaded a copy recently. Really a handy tool IMHO! Aparently there is also now a live-linux version of mandrake 9.2 and soon 10.0

You just need the .iso, as posted earlier. And use *-DE* if you know german.
