Downtown Roanoke, VA

I'm down in Roanoke to take the bar exam. I've never been here before. Staying right smack in the middle of what all the signs say is downtown.

Does anyone who has been here have any suggestions on can't miss food? I'm not exactly on vacation, but my evenings are free, and I do plan to unwind after the first night of the exam with hopefully a nice meal at a local place.

Haha, thanks for the suggestions so far.

I do have things to do, but I need to eat, so I'm specifically looking for tips on restaurants. I hear there's this little place called McDonald's here, but I'd like to avoid it.

I can't get the hell out of here or go hiking, unfortunately. Not until Wednesday, when I will get the hell out of here and go home.

There is a really good sushi place downtown. Across from a bar called the Tavern or something. There is a bar called Cornbeef or something like that which, though sounds horrible, is a great bar. It is 3 floors about 7 different bars in it.

How long are you going to be in Noke? I might actually be in town tomorrow. I live about an hour away and it is the closest place with a mall.
