Just added 1.9 Ghz to the cause. Nice slim command line, and NOT dNet.

hey dan C

here's something you should do immediately if u haven't already

You might have noticed a file called best250.dat on the website. Did you get it?

Basically all your results are saved in results.txt and results.dat...when u upload your results the .txt file is deleted. the .dat file however remains...

As u gain results the algorithm modifies itself to produce better and better muoun transfers and to analyze more particles as a result..the higher the transfer + particles the better it is for both you, your stats, and the project as a whole.

Normally this is a self-running process. i.e. the algorithm learns from ur results and slowly improves {ideally}....the best250.dat file however gives u the best 250 results as of october 2002. these allow you to sort of get a "jump" on things..
Download best250.dat from www.stephenbrooks.org/muon1 -its at the very bottom of page-...unzip it and open it w/ notepad...

If u already have a results.dat in ur muon folder COPY..PASTE the best 250 into that file and save it (once again using notepad)...

If u dont (say b/c ur first work unit hasn't finished yet) simply copy the unzipped results.dat into ur muon folder....

That's it. Welcome to the team and enjoy!

Overkiller,

No, I didn't see it - but I'll drop it in there right now. Thanks for the heads-up.

When do results begin to show on the STATS :Q page.???? (yeah - I'm still competitive)

EDIT:
Appended the file to my results. All appears to be running fine.

the Best250.dat files are definitely a must. A while back Stephen Brooks started making them available and there were two results:
1) Average quality of results (muon transfer and number of particles) went through the roof,
2) average simulation time also increased.
In order to reward the people who sent the best results (and encourage us to use the file and improve our sumulations) he created a bonus point scheme.
If your simulation has a muon transfer between 1.0 and 1.2% you are credited with 5 times the number of particles, 6 times between 1.2 and 1.4, 7 times between 1.4 and 1.6 etc...
This (over)compensates the increase in simulation time.
Cheers,
Marc
