Dr. ATOT, are you in? Constantly seeing stuff in my peripheral vision.

So, is this one of those normal "getting old" things? (I'm really feeling the burn from my 27 years. )
Over the past few months, it's happened more and more, I keep catching glimpses of insect-sized objects (ranging from gnat to mid-size moth) at the very edge of my field of vision, either very bright or very dark, moving quite rapidly. And of course when my eyes quickly dart toward the "object," there's nothing there.

Now, I did see a Stargate SG-1 episode where some other-dimensional insect things wandering around. I'm fairly sure that's not it, as I don't have any Ancient technology around.

Google wasn't particularly helpful. Too many of the matches are talking about ghosts or UFO's or other stupid-people-BS, or else things that are more like, "Are you on any drugs with hallucinogenic side effects?" or "did you undergo brain surgery recently?"

Is this just one of the fun side effects of having those "floater" things in my eyes? I've got loads of those little buggers.

And darn it, it's not lupus. It's never lupus.
Probably goat flu. Thanks a lot, DrPizza.

Treatment:
....profuse vomiting occurs....

(Anything about cutting into eyeballs is just, not good. And then mention of stitches? Negative on that, space command.)

So, like I kind of mentioned in the OP is this just one side effect of having floaters, which possibly get worse with age?

Idk if it gets worse with age, but it SUCKS! I hate floaters... makes reading and many other things just miserable.

The worst ones are those that are big enough to actually feel; when I move my eyes around, sometimes I can kind of feel a tiny object in there, and when it's in the right place, I get a fuzzy spot in my field of vision.

The Mother of all Floaters. But things like that only show up every few weeks. I don't know where they hang out the rest of the time.

Doesn't sound like floaters because floaters are in there.. and they're in there permanently unless you do some kind of surgery.

So, yeah... :/

Do you guys ever get the small mostly black but flashing color dots floating around? They usually come in swarms for me.

OMG, I have been noticing almost the exact same thing recently. Seriously, I keep "seeing" something scurrying across the floor/somewhere and when I look directly there, there's nothing. I think it's probably just light reflecting off my Glasses or something, so I've pretty much haven't been worried about it.

Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid.
I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision.
But when I try to look at you, you scurry away.
Are you shy, squiggly line?
Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye?
Oh, squiggly line,
it's alright, you are forgiven.

I hate my floaters too.
One trick I read to get them out of your field of vision is to look up and down for a few seconds. This works for me sometimes.

occasionally my field of vision gets blurry on one eyeball.

i asked my doctor about it. he said it's mucus on the eyeball. blink alot, and it's fixed.

glad my troubles are nice and simple.

Yeah; I guess the annoying thing about this is, I'm in this apartment by myself, with no pets around. There shouldn't be anything else here moving except me, so seeing any sort of motion is rather startling.

Yep, I do believe those are normal. Unless you keep seeing them constantly...

no... floaters are in your DIRECT FIELD OF VISION, like in front of you, in order to "get rid of them" you usually have to "swirl" the inside of your eye by moving it around rapidly. (I know because I first got real bad ones when I was 16)

this is certain, when I was pretty sleep deprived I had the EXACT same thing as the OP described.

you have flies in your eyes, but you can't see them (because you have flies in your eyes, how can you see with the flies there) so you don't know it.
