He's um, edgy, I guess? So he wanted to do something edgy?

At least he wasn't caught planting toiletcams in the women's restroom.

What an insensitive moron. Good riddance . The world doesn't need people like that. What's next? YouTubers walking up to random people in public, and punching them in the face?

He has a ton of followers.
Bet you they are gonna rage and have him reinstated.

*sigh*

But i agree, people should know by now what they can and cant do, especially in regards to social media.
He just blatantly didnt care, or was thinking it would get him more subs / viewers, or trying to boost his ego by adding one more thing in his list of "have done".

You know what they say, Any news is good news. This is good for disrespect in the long run. He got national coverage. More people are going to know about him, which will increase his views on Twitch. He knows that Twitch won't permaban him. Even if they do he has a huge following. He could go anywhere else if he wants.

Any news is good news.

It is unless he gets into legal trouble for it. Filming people in a bathroom potentially breaks all kinds of laws. If he didn't get anyone's naughty bits then there may be no legal repercussions.

Well the issue is there was a young kid in the restroom. That's going to be the issue.

pardon my european ignorance but what makes the public area of a restroom not a public area?

Yup. It's real borderline. When you take a camera in there, are you sure you aren't going to come out with unedited footage of something that's not legal for you to film?

Anywhere that people disrobe at least partially below the waist isn't really public . . . at least not in the United States. There are the (exceedingly) rare nude beaches. Bathrooms at E3 are not the same thing. You can't just saunter into a men's restroom and expect to view people urinating (bad form, and creepy). You definitely can't film them doing so. If there's a kid involved, now you're tripping all over kiddy porn laws. Really, really bad idea.

You know what im gonna say right?

The bathroom has two areas - the stalls, and NOT THE STALLS. People dont disrobe themselves in the NOT THE STALLS area because that would be the equivalent of someone exposing themselves to you. Or to the children you just mentioned.
I mean, im no expert but in the few thousands of times ive had to go in a public (there's that word again) bathroom ,ive never seen people with their dick out, although there were a few gentlemen who were facing the wall and i suspect they might have been partially disrobed.

If it's a place you can simply walk into, it's public, and you are not entitled to any special privacy.
If it has an entryway that locks, or if it has a big sign somewhere that says PRIVATE, then you are entitled to privacy.

let's test this

1. changing room at a store - has PRIVATE sign - private
2. your house - has locking door - private
3. 1-at-time toilet in McDonalds - locking door - private
4. courtyard of the gas station - no door or signs - public
5. ice cream parlor - no door or signs - public
6. train - no door or signs - public
7. train toilet - locking door - private

@DigDog, I understand that you are not from the USA, you probably don't understand our puritanical ways, that have consistently stuck around in our society, as well as our desires for privacy. There are NO CAMERAS allowed, as I understand it, in restrooms. Not even the "public" (not stalls) area.

Dr. Disrespect doing that, is really violating a lot of social edicts, here, and he deserves to pay the price for it, IMHO.

(*I have no idea who he is, I'm not a regular twitch.tv viewer. But he crossed the line here, IMHO, and I wouldn't be against prosecuting him.)

Edit: And we usually have a "row of urinals", in which males are partially disrobed, to "do their thing", without taking up a precious stall. So yeah, filming that would be a gross violation of privacy. As well, if there were kids there, well, Dr. Disrespect is in a LOT of trouble, IMHO.

There is no thinking involved.
Its a Penal Code violation period.

Penal Code 647(j) is California's invasion of privacy law, which makes it a crime for a person to view the inside of a bathroom via a camera.

to be honest i am surprised he wasn't arrested.
Also he will probably be summoned soon with several law suits.
He's pretty well known, and it wont be hard for a lawyer to request his info.

Urinals. You have to remove at least a minimal amount of clothing to use one. You get a relatively-small baffle protecting the view of your junk while you use one, sometimes. Some bathrooms don't even have that. It's easy for people to see what's going on if they try.

In the United States, if you have a place like a bathroom where people have to routinely take out their genitalia to do something non-sexual (like urinate), then cameras are verboten. There's a non-zero risk of someone's genitalia winding up on cam. If that someone is a minor, then congrats, you just created kiddee porn. Dr. Disprespect may as well have invaded a highschool locker room, from a legal standpoint.

Bingo. The above is why such laws exist. You don't want to play around with privacy. A law making it unambiguously illegal to film inside a bathroom negates all possible loopholes or arguments about what is or is not permissible in a public space (or what even constitutes a public space).

And that's the real reason why Twitch dumped him (and E3 booted him). They don't want to appear to be facilitating his misconduct. Otherwise, they could get dragged into court.

It's hard to see how he'll come back from this. If he caught a kid on tape using the bathroom you can make the inference of child porn, and nobody wants to be associated with that. Quite rightly so, frankly.

He's pretty well known and most people assume all popular Twitch/Youtube personalities make millions. I'd be willing to bet money on him getting sued.

Dr. Disrespect is worth about $3m. Don't know if those numbers are accurate though.

Not for long
You severely underestimate the power of people's stupidity these days. If anything, this is making him more popular and even if he goes to trial for lawsuits, he'll have a massive fanbase there to back him up with donations.

You called that one. https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/26/...turn-e3-bathroom-gift-subscriptions-donations

"“He’s not even live and his chat is popping off,” streamer Marshall Hayden tweeted last night. “Subs, gifted subs. HOLY FAWK MAN!!! Firm handshakes Champions Club!”

Yet more proof of different rules for famous people. If this was a regular streamer, no way would they be reinstated.

Weird. I'm pretty sure that the sort of people that take selfies take selfies in public toilets a lot over here.
And who "disrobes" to use the urinal? Unzip, whip it out and piss. I hope you aren't the sort of people who drop their trousers to their ankles to use the urinal!

The kiddie porn thing is also weird. What about the beach? I was there on the weekend and there were a bunch of toddlers running around paddling in the nude. Are you not allowed to take pictures on the beach in case you accidentally get someones kid in the background?
