Well I think 3 states have changed the laws in his time. But maybe his death will spark something. Problem is people don't think about this till its to late.
That and allow it but setup guidelines and checks and balances.

If someone wants to commit suicide, let them. Having someone else do it, regardless of being "humane" is murder. Tell the person to get a gun and do the deed. If they can't pull the trigger then their life is more important to them than they thought.

Yea, I'm all for assisted suicide. I know I rather die than spend another 2 week doped up because of pain and then dying.

Oh speaking of assisted suicide. If you've got HBO keep an eye out for "How to Die in Oregon". Very good documentary that follows the lives of a few people that take advantage of the Death with Dignity law.

Yup.

Though the patient had end stage ALS so it probably would have been physically impossible to pull a trigger (both metaphorically and literally like JeffreyLebowski suggests).

Plus he taped it and aired it on tv and dared the world to stop him, really didn't help matters. Though at that point he was more of an activist so it did get him the press coverage he wanted/needed.

By your logic a person with terminal cancer, whose days are filled with extreme physical pain and fear of impending death, still has "more to live for" because they're bed-ridden and can't do it themselves.

I can't tell if you're just trolling or if you truly are this incredibly stupid.

The movie "You Don't Know Jack" starring Al Pacino changed my opinion about the guy, and I know have a lot of respect for him. Previously I thought he was a quack.
